Made a deal to trade my Fender Deluxe Reverb II for a Vox AC15C1 (and maybe some more stash) today. The Fender hasn't been used for years, and I like Voxes... The guy I'm trading with lives pretty far away, though, and I don't trust the postal services enough to handle this, so we have to make some arrangements for the shipping. But I'm still very happy.

 now i got to go Google Fender Deluxe Reverb to see what it is. i like my Vox Night Train so im sure your new Vox will sound great.

The Vox is a great amp but I'd take a Deluxe Reverb, even a Rivera one, as a trade for a Vox any day of the week. It depends what sound you're looking for. Both amps have a distinctive sound and right now I prefer the Fender sound. Of course next week I'll probably change my mind :)

The Vox should be a great amp, classic tones. Enjoy!

enjoy your new Vox amp mate. I love my AC15C1 for sure and my SG sounds great through it so I'm sure yours will as well...(I'll let you in on a secret though. If you've got a Strat stashed away somewhere, you might want to introduce it and the AC15 to each other!) (y)

Just noticed the Cooper's shirt in your avatar. They make some refreshing drops.

I too love my "anniversary" Vox, AC10. I have always loved Vox and would have more of them... but you have to tailor what you use to what you need. But you also need to know how much investment you need to do into it. It is very additive!

I'm very much looking forward to getting it. I dig both my AC30 and AC4, so I have a feeling this one will be a blast too!

Haha, yeah, I love Coopers! Theri Best Extra Stout and Sparkling Ale are two of my favorite beers. I visited the Brewery i 2003. Bought the shirt in Adelaide when I was there. Lovely city. The shirt is well worn (to say the least), but I'll wear it until it falls off by itself.

I really liked my VOX AC15C1 before I went the modeling route. I think you'll dig it!

If anyone here in the USA is looking for one mine's for sale...

I love my little vox headphone amp. It has a different analog effects and several settings for each. I bought the classic rock one, but I may collect them all. Great when you don't want to wake the family at 4 in the morning.

I had a Deluxe Reverb '67 model for about 20 years, ended up selling it earlier this year to get my Vox Ac15c1. Of course I had a lil cash left over also since my D.R. was an original blackface.

I found this after getting my AC15. Just wanted to share with you.

Before you start modifying a Vox to get the sound you are looking for it is important to learn how to use the controls. Vox tone/volume controls are interactive, way more so than other amps. If you turn up the bass, the treble will go down and vice versa. This means you have to change both controls at the same time in the same direction, very small amounts at a time. Then you have to figure out the tone cut. Then there is how the volume controls interact with the tone stack. It takes a long time to dial in an AC15 or AC30 but once you figure it out tonal bliss is there. Another tip is to max the master volume and use the preamp volume to control sound level. That gives an altogether different tone than the other way around. My point is learn the amp before you dive into mods that can't easily be returned to stock.

I was just passing on an interesting site. The very first thing that would need to be done is to break in the speaker. Being a tech background kind of guy I always look for these sort of sites.

Yeah, I've been playing my two Voxes for about two and a half years now, and I'm still learning! They are very "musical" and versatile amps. Tweaking the controls, both on the amp and the guitar, gives you a LOT oftonal possibilities.

On the AC30C2 I mostly play through the high input in the normal channel, with the volume between 1 and 2 o'clock and the master as required for th place I'm playing. I turn up the tone cut to dampen the treble until it is just slightly sharp, and then I use the guitar's tone and volume controls to dial everything in where I want it. But my tastes change, so everything is a work in progress!

Breaking in the speakers is a good point. The sound changes quite dramatically as they are broken in.

FVCK! The guy pulled out of the deal. No AC15 for me. I'll have to see if I can sell the Deluxe Reverb II instead.:(

Hate it when that happens :( I lost a trade for 1968 Super Reverb drip edge recently. I was trading two amps for it. At the last minute he backed out and wanted to sell it to me for $1,800.
