Unofficial SG picture post

Whilst that collection is most impressive and affords me the opportunity to ask a quick question: for a cable with a right angle jack going into a junior I was thinking about a $30 VOX cable for home practice and such - Mr Cable Guru, any thoughts?

The guitar collection was the main collection I was mentioning, and that 3 pickup Custom beast looks like it could walk over to most other SGs and smash their faces in!

These Monoprice Dual Signal Path/Shielded Cables (90 on both ends) are the quietest I have ever used. This 10 footer was $14.95...FWIW

No no no no... no! Listen to me, Mr Grumpy! What you need is the Analysis Gold Oval cable. You would be the only kid on the block to have one. Think of the prestige, the honor, the shock of horror, chick's will dig you... :fingersx:

Cut thru the BS, and go to the 1:50 mark:

You can thank me later...

I'm sure someone somewhere bought one.

I think I've shared this shot in another thread, but what the heck. We always claim photo or it didn't happen.

G400 I picked up used. Kinda became a "project" guitar. Over the next couple years swapped just about everything but the wood. Upgraded pots, 50s wiring and added the goodies for treble bleed. TonePros bridge and tail piece. Graphtech nut. 57s pups. Swapped tuner to Gibson Vintage Tuners, not because the OEM tuners were bad. Just going for a look. Sold the OEM bridge, tailpiece, tuners and pups on ebay.

How do you like your Traynor amp!!

I like it. It’s been paid for since 1974. That even better. 20w into a single 12 is loud. Almost too loud for inside my house. Pretty much can only play it when I’m home alone.

Tubes are EL84s and 12AX7s. Definitely a more Brit sound rather than Fender.

I did a cap job and tubes a few years ago. Swapped out the original speaker for a Celestion Vintage 30. Sounds really good, but the darn speaker is a bit too efficient. You have to really crank it to get break up. So. Kick in the pedal and get same thing.

It only has master volume, treble, bass. No gain pot. It has built in reverb and tremolo. (Spring tank) Both are nice. I pretty much always have reverb set at about 3.

In 1974 I think I paid $250 for it. About 10 years ago Traynor did a reissue of the YGM3. Went for a few bucks north of $1k.

Edit: I should add. The thing is built like a tank. Cabinet by itself is heavy. Transformer is old school and huge. Component chassis is well built. Point to point wiring. No PC board.

NNIcce!! I have heard good things about them, if I get a chance to try one out I'm going to.
If you get to try one. Some items of note. Oddly. It doesn’t really get a lot louder with volume over 5. What you can do is crank the volume past 5. Turn both bass and treble below 5. What that does is fake out the amp to push the mids. It’s where I generally play it.

You can thank me later...
