Unofficial SG picture post

I think I've shared this shot in another thread, but what the heck. We always claim photo or it didn't happen.

G400 I picked up used. Kinda became a "project" guitar. Over the next couple years swapped just about everything but the wood. Upgraded pots, 50s wiring and added the goodies for treble bleed. TonePros bridge and tail piece. Graphtech nut. 57s pups. Swapped tuner to Gibson Vintage Tuners, not because the OEM tuners were bad. Just going for a look. Sold the OEM bridge, tailpiece, tuners and pups on ebay.
 
This is Burla, the SG that picked me to love, mod and cherish her. She is the reason that I met most of y'all here on the interweb. Burla has lots of mods including hand made wood pieces to replace all of the plastic parts. The name Burla is derived from the Walnut Burl I used to make the pick guard, pick up rings, TRC cover, back cover and tenon cover.

This is a custom build, SG shaped guitar that has a carved top like a Les Paul with a chambered body. It's kind of a cross between a SG and a Les Paul. I call her Les G. She features a pair of Seymore Duncan P-Rails housed in Triple Shot Rings. The bridge is a Lashbrook piezo.

Things I've changed are; removed circuit board, shielded with copper foil & wired 50's style. Bridge pickup changed out with a slightly overwound T top type (neck is still BB1). Faber locking tailpiece studs (top wrapped tailpiece) & of course, amber switch tip. I did buy a small 'guard for it but decided it looks better as is. Cheers
 
I've enlisted my Gibson SG Special into the army to fight against corporate crap they call music!:D This is a later photo of my SG but with Epiphone pick ups in it. I did a pick up swap between my SG and my 2006 black Epiphone Les Paul Standard which I think has the Alnico Classic Humbuckers which actually sound really good. The Gibson 490R/490T pick ups sound fantastic in my Epi LP probably due to the weight of the guitar and the 500k ohm Alpha pots which really lets the sound out. I've aged all the metal parts on my SG including the pick up covers and Grover tuners from muriatic acid fumes. The results turned out very well. I also turned around the neck pick up backwards and wired it in backwards so that when the 3-way selector switch is in the middle both pick ups are permanently out of phase and it's optimal if both volumes are at the same exact setting no matter which number. I spray-painted the bridge pick up cover black but some of the paint came off due to picking on the guitar. It's ready for attack!:flame:

Thanks Home Grown so to to speak--- all solid Mahogany body maple neck --- Tulip Tuners from Musiclilly, Epi 57's vintage wiring (ala Drummoid) plays and sounds AMAZING....All frankensteined from cast off or unwanted parts.....including the body---- a friend ordered the kit it sat in a closet with the neck attached for over year --- he sent it to me said "here if you can finish it you can have it, Im "over it""

Its a beater, but a dang good one!
