Ultimate Gear gadget

I thought others might enjoy it---

too "gadgety for me-- gives me chills and makes me think of the whole Marshall CODE "incident" :(

I'm guessing the device on the guitar has a sensor(s) like the ones used in clip on tuners, these days. Some of those seem to perform really well these days....like the little white TC Electronic one that I have had for a while now.

I can understand your apprehension, but I've not shared your experiences. I've done fairly well with the smart phone/tablet interfacing thing. The only really frustrating thing that I've had to deal with was an app update that basically made my fancy BBQ remote thermometer useless, until they fixed the app. That's just a convenience tool though, not a true necessity. It is very handy when it works right though.

well no --- bluetooth BBQ is a TOTALLY different story!
I think I'm gonna go full wifi gateway, to online monitoring next year...Bluetooth is cool if I'm not on the fringes of range. I do like the graphical tracking of the cook that's available with these modern gadgets....now I have a record of what was going on while I was mowing/napping.

I have all that information stored as well-- in a 62 year old women named Patty--
She cooks BBQ ---Smoked pork butts, and full racks of ribs.....every day...pork butt is 30.00 feeds three people for at least 2 full meals and a lunch....family triple FULL racks of ribs (not little "baby backs") are 50.00.......
She has Been doing it 30 years........knows her shite--- I call a day out --- pick it up at noon.....amazing --- and no "ap" :) she smokes them a min of 12 hours.

Her old man is disabled -- this --and his pension are their only source of income. -- good folks -- happy to help--and happy have good BBQ -- :)

The gadgets are certainly not a necessity here either. I've done without them for a few years.

The app screen grabs are good for taunting my buddy, that moved down to North Carolina, who likes talking BBQ with me(via text mostly). The last time he came up for a visit, he had a chance to try a couple of things I like to make now and then. He got the bug, and is learning. He's got a bit of the same gear that I like to cook with, so set up pictures, and temp graphs can be helpful to him.
...and if I do fall asleep after prepping pork picnic roasts late at night, I can see what happened in the BBQ while I was out, and adjust accordingly.
The above graph is from a cook that was supposed to be a low and slow pulled pork picnic roast. I dozed off while it was going good, and right in range. While I was out, the rain stopped, the sun came out, the wind kicked up, taking along my pit temp, and what was supposed to be a 10 hour low and slow cook....turned in to a 7 hour hot and fast cook. It all ended well.

I was watching a typical what some might call "conspiracy theory" thing regarding the schmart technology built into home automation and appliances etc.

The security on all this stuff is said to be really poor; either the hackers will get us or the robots will become self aware and before you know it we are all ass-deep in Terminators.

There is a lot of cool stuff out there though.

Im with you man

--- all these Google home "assitant things.....lexus turn on the tv ...lexus lock the doors......theives used to need a crow bar and some muscle now a cell phone and a hack "ap" and guess who cleans out your house while your at work .........

Refrigerators with blue tooth......aps to turn on and off lights lock doors and adjust heating/cooling of your home from you cell phone ---- anywhere on the planet.......
uhm....no those commercials making it look "fun" and "cool" make me cringe
