UFO / Music / Non Alien ...lol

Excellent note choices. His solos are little compositions.

Everyone interviewed will always say that's how they solo. He's actually one that does. YMMV IMHO Etc...
I was just curious what others think about what solos stand out. No wrong answer.

Michael has always had a sense of where he is going in every solo. Simple chord changes with corresponding lead note changes. I heard him describe it like he is an artist painting a picture .

Love his tone because it's a Marshall getting power tubes cooking.
Everything in the chain is enhancing the power tube saturation.

MIchael’s phrasing has always been phenomenal. It doesn't matter which song it is, his solos will be exactly what the song needs. The George Harrison of hard rock/metal.
SG John,

I found this concert clip. Of course I am only up to the 8 minute mark when my favorite song comes on. His solo in Let it Roll just gives me shivers.

The phrasing as you say it plus his riffs, style of left hand work and of course dynamics really make a song.
Check it out at 8:15+
Schenker is so Schenker on This Kid's too. Freaking A as it gets to 15:00 and definitely by 16:00+

Seeing the above clip, made me take some double takes on who that dark haired V player was.
But, that 4 on the guitar is the same as in my 1995 clip I just posted. To not see Mike as a blonde is like seeing Mitch playing without his spandex trousers.
I think it was his incognito moment. He had nothing to prove returning to UFO.
None the less, great songs and performance.

OK, I watched and said " WE need to get Michael Schenker in our group" after hearing what he said @ 3:56+.

" Oh, this is just a guitar I picked up. You know, I'm kinda traveling a lot and have guitars all over the place. And whenever I stay someplace for longer period of time, I just go to the shop and buy a guitar...."

I have a guitar for every room in the house…. But thinking that may not be the same thing.

Every solo is unique but he did perfect the classics over time. For instance the early versions of Rock Bottom were different. One thing in common with all great players is their ear for tone . Michael has a great sense for note selection.

I don’t have to see him, the solo tells all with out site.
IT is a thrill to hear him, and IT is the PLEASURE to SEE HIM up close and digging into his masterpiece and explaining how it came about very off the cuff, etc.

Not telling anyone How or what to derive from anything I post. But just sayin. for those who choose to observe, you won't leave empty.
The solo in the video comes in at right around 34:55- 35:48 ish

I agree , what I mean is I know his playing when I hear it. A guy I know in a band is the ultimate Schenker Fan. These guys when they were teenagers had a band called Euphoria.

They played all of the early songs.
On one of their adventures, he actually got to learn Rock Bottom from Micheal. As crazy as that sounds, he had a Polaroid.
I just caught him on Facebook yesterday playing the song live with the same drummer from 40 years ago. Mike Rust , guitar and Jimmy Leece on drums.

Let Roll it Roll breaks me, I have been trying so hard for so long to pull that song off.
I am obsessed with it.

So my question is which Michael Schenker solo is your favorite?
I have one that is in my head.
Desert island solo, must have.
I think you know mine. His work on Let it Roll takes me to another world.

I was first exposed to UFO in the late 70's early 80's but Schenker got back into my brain as I got a BEST OF UFO CD and saw him live in the early 2000's.
AS I listen to that album, particularly on headphones, my ears get sonic nirvana. This is the version that I will always hear in my ear

I posted this last week, you know the song is a timing thing with triplets at a fairly fast chug.
The lead/ rhythm combination is difficult.
