Again the RD shape and the LP JR shape

The LP JR might become kind of a short scale Sting Ray and the RD as thunderbird like as its cousin (which still ist my favorite bass).

What do you think? Crazy? Ugly? Should i burn the wood? Could that be something to sell?

BTW: it'll probably take some time untill i actuall do something with these these tops - two older building projects in the queue

Bea thought about it and even tested the idea. The pieces are too small.

BTW, the wood is not spalted. Those are knurls.

As usual, I'm of no help, but the 2nd one, the offset body, reminds me of an x ray.

I think the double cut junior one has the extra markings in a way it will look nice when done. The thunder looks like it may lose a lot of mark, but at the same time there will be enough left for the imagination to connect the 'two stripes' for lack of better words. Both are cool, and I can't wait to see your hands manipulating more wood with, well, hand tools for wood

Bea, I presumed the wood was too small and in my joking way ( not intended to be taken as serious suggestions) was essentially a V would remove all the "INTERESTING" parts of the piece. Where is the fun in a plain, non unique piece?

To sum it up, " Go for it. The Jr will be a killer guitar when you finish."

I like both, but am partial to the T-Bird. I love odd figuring and burls. That burl is going to be tough to cut without splintering or launching fragments.

But luckily i'll be able to cut it with a jig saw ;-) And glue broken parts back in. Later on, some holes will have to be filled with epoxi, anway.

BTW: i intend to build both basses. That's why i have bought the wood for. The LP JR will be built first. Mainly because i do already have most of the hardware. And all Wood. And one last of those really nice old Framus necks.
Aside of that there are two other intruments in the pipeline: continue with my semiacoustic bass VI. And start with something really demanding and reall experimental - a thick Archtop bass with probably a modern shape (Imagine a merge of the Sharkfin idea with a thick archtop guitar).
The archtop build will start on April, 1st. No joke, it is just the start of a contest in the gitarrebassbau.de forum. The RD/Thunderbird bass - a copy of my red RD with thunderbuckers will follow, along with my idea of a really unconventional headless design.
