Two new amps due in a month

Yeppers, have two custom design hand built amps being made as we speak. Each amp is $5,800 a piece. Made with the very best components available and synced with my Bluetooth system in my phone. So who in their right mind would spend almost $12 grand on a pair of amp? My uncle! And he's getting them just for me. Pretty cool huh?

Uncle Sam is having a pair of custom made hearing aids built just for my particular hear loss. (which is pretty bad). The Dallas VA hospital told me a few years ago to piss off. But a few months ago I changed from the Tyler/Dallas bunch to the Palestine/Waco VA group. 100% improvement in health care. And my primary care physician set this up. I thought hearing loss was on me.... Not so!

So in a month I'll be wired for stereo. All controlled via Bluetooth and my phone works with it as well so no Bluetooth device to look for and music and video sound is synched as well. Too cool. And I got to choose the case colors too. Ummm. Woodland Camouflage pattern of course! Hoo-ah!

I'll post pics when they get here. Gonna be the most expensive amps I've ever had.:celebrate2: Yeah, pretty excited here....

That's great news. I know that you've talked about your degree of hearing loss before. I don't remember if you've ever discussed the primary source that damaged your hearing.

Mainly it was estimated that my right ear was pummeled by a 4" radio speaker mounted on the cage in my patrol unit. I spent 13 years in patrol before moving into other aspects of police work. It was surmised that the constant chatter damaged my right ear. The left was always messed up with high freq loss early in life.

I woke up on a camping/canoeing trip in '91 with a loud ringing in my right ear. That never went away. The hearing in that ear rappidly deminished in a day. Wasn't from gunfire as I wear hearing protection.

That is great news! I can't wait to find out how your new gear sounds. Hmmm, how can we get sound clips of your new amps?

Interesting. I read an article where Pete Townshend insists his hearing loss was not a result of loud concerts. He says the real problem was using headphones in the studio.

Ya, that and Keith Moon exploding drums.
Good luck Wade, hope it turns out well.

The VA has been an almost indescribable mess for decades, hopefully things are improving.
There have been shake ups, but I havent seen any heads on pikes so I'm not quite convinced.
Glad to hear (heh heh) you are getting quality care.

If any here dont realize it, the VA system is the fully government run health care system.
This is NOT political, just pointing out a fact.

If you plug an interface like an Irig or something like that that can go into a smartphone with an app like Garageband or Ampli-tude, you can truly use them as guitar amps!!

Well I was advised Oct 25 to be at the VA for my new "ears". Guess we'll find out then huh? As to sound clips? Guess you're going to just take my word on it.o_O
Looking forward to having more of the world around me. Seeing things is good of course, but living in semi-silence is a most frustrating thing. I do not attend church, public meetings, zero social gatherings, and such as a direct result of not being able to hear a single word. Closed caption is a must as my little tv lacks the volume. Conversation with another must be close quarters and without background noise. A tv in the same room, I'm walking out as it's pointless if the other person refuses to turn it off. So, I'm not a social butterfly since I can't hear poop!:coffee:
Maybe that will change.:hmmm:
