TVvoodoo's Straplab

Now on the way to Ontario.

Kind of wanted to stay with my guitar, but I told it it would enjoy a much longer growing season out East.

Got an order for TEN! pairs of Well-Hung StrapMasters, or the Old School Leather straplocks which is kind of not normal! The same fella picked up ten set's not that long ago... makes me wonder if he's reselling LOL!
You'll probably only recognize these if you have a bit of grey showing like I do, a bit different from the original design, more robust most have told me, and improved.

Nice loose feel, totally silent, and they'll add about 4-5 inches to your strap chain, so you can get off that very last loop on your strap! This is important!

E7UEw9zF_o.jpg

Anyway, he said he likes them so much he wants another ten sets to give to his guitar friends as gifts. That'ssuch a baller move, I figured I couldn't just use scrap leather bits (which is still plenty strong) for this order like I normally do for one or two pairs. So, I cut off some fresh vegtan pieces and dyed it in three browns and some in black this morning.

Will oil 'em in a bit, then probably start the clearcoat later in the afternoon if the strips are ready. Deluxe order for a deluxe customer!

Speaking of deluxe... faithful Well-Hung warriors know I habitually add fun cool swag into my orders for dudes who don't try to grind me on price, (usually it's just advertising promo for me ). Gotta say I'm rather jacked-up about my new rehearsal space banner now in production

It's going to replace the "Octane" banner I've been sending out for a couple years, but have now run out of, and is sure to become a collectors item. The new one features some of my favourite rock 'n roll lyrics, and I can't help but wondering how many people are gonna feel compelled to spend ten or twenty aggravating
minutes trying to solve the challenge of matching all the lines with the original performers and tracks.
Some are pretty easy. Some might require a little extra brainpower and deep diggin'.

phACgDEw_o.jpg

I have several customers who've asked me for extra, to take it to their fave local live music venues/watering holes and the joints often actually pin 'em up just for the "fun" value. This time I did a bit of humming 'n hawing over including a few rather "salty" phrases, but that's rock 'n roll for ya, ain't it? Might be a few angry moms.

The Well-Hung "Lyric Banner" should be available in orders in about a eight to ten days time.

There's this fella named Justin Wierenga out of Michigan who is a crazy hard working musician. I see him on my instagram feed all the time, he's doing solo gigs, duos, bandwork, sideman work, studio work, and he's a multi-instrumentalist too. Blues, rock, jazz, country... He does it all at a high level.

JustinWiernega.jpg

Total gear hound, never misses a pawnshop in every place he travel and boy does he pick up some really cool vintage flavoured stuff. He mentioned to me the other day he's "addicted" to my straps, he has a couple of them... and sent pics of five or six guitars, said he'd like a few new straps for electric work but just a little shorter than my regular. He's cool with a "Surprise Him" sort of deal.

That's so much fun for both of us!

He's a helluva nice fellow, obviously - he's busy and works with so many people, and seldom fails to mention Well-Hung in is social media post gear list.
So we worked out a price, and I kind of went a bit over in value for the fellow, 'cause he's a real clan warrior.

Anyway, I put together a set of three customs, a vanity tooled strap, a Burntwood, and a brand now "Carpetbagger" tapestry strap, with hot peppers all over it.
I know he's a fan of spicy food, so he's gonna love that one

Gonna be an cool event for him to open this package only knowing one strap has his name on it LOL

here's a couple new ones heading to the store soon... "Caliente" is basically the Well-Hung Justin Wierenga signature model strap - made of thick tapestry fabric in my Carpetbagger theme. Why would I name a strap over a relative unknown musician? Because I can, and he deserves it!

6wrfXwRT_o.jpg

Like I mentioned in the note in Justin's package heading his way, it's the kind of strap after you duck under it, forces your game upward.
Who could dare phone it in while wearing a spicy number like this?

I've been quieter than usual as far as posting goes, but the bench has been busy with custom work, and I'm also trying to nail down some designs I want to take to the Edmonton guitar show on the 29th of September.

This custom Class Act (inverse cowboy tooling with a back buckle) for Tony, arrived for his Barlow Falcon and he was so impressed, he immediately wants to talk about a few more, for some other high end units

Justin got his surprise 3-pack and seems quite pleased!

Here's is a little something I'm building special, working on it tonight for the show, but this concept has been in my head for months. Sort of a rough weave strap, 3" wide of of 4 oz. vegtan, with flat-smashed rivets. I'll be putting padding/lining on it and stitching the sides, though it would work pretty well as a strap right now as-is. It's a Well-Hung Original design I plan to make more of - I'm calling this one "Mid-Evil" - its' not super evil, but no low key evil either. Just the right amount of handsome evil

YrMHBKCi_o.jpg

Other new things I have built, I'll take photos of them soon when there's a break in the action.
A new western pair called called "Tombstone," a new militia series "Battlefront," a few new Genocides I call "Grief Stricken" and a couple No Prisoners one-offs,
one inspired by Paul Stanley and one in a Class Act format called Sharkskin - I've been busy!

They are here!

Well-Hung warriors know I can be a little heavy-handed with the cool swag!
For a couple of years many TTR members and other less important customers have been willing to fly the flag of hung have been getting these fun rehearsal space banners

Alas, the 200% powered by High Octane Rock banner days are over, the last few of these babies went out last week.
They are being replaced by this new "Borne To Perform" design, which I hope will get as much or more critical acclaim as the last one received.
2" tall by 3" wide, as measured by Nigel Tufnel.

7TX9Y6zT_o.jpg

The New for 2024 Well Hung "Borne to Perform" rehearsal space banner is a dark-magic sort of thing, invariably serving to inspire, intimidate and incite to incinerate most who are found in its rather imposing presence. It is fully none-more black (except parts that ain't). Same great size, featuring the Well-Hung logo front and center, surrounded by a poisonous soup of killer rock 'n roll lyrics! Just short snippets from many of our favorite artists. You and your friends gonna sit there for probably hours arguing over which songs are which, which band sang what, all that. Maybe a few of the very best of you might even figure them all out! Warning: a few of the lyrics are, shall we say, a little ** ! SPICY ! ** ie. your mom may not approve.

Why you need this: Fly this banner proudly in your rehearsal space, man cave, guitar room, home studio, shop, garage, or pin onstage at gigs to declare allegiance as a devoted StrapLab Cult-Member Tribal Warrior! Alternately, if you adhere to the teen male/bachelor-forever school of interior decorating, these babies also make crazy cool makeshift curtains for all kinds of windows. It can quickly conceal all the unspeakable debaucheries you're probably up to in there from your prying neighbors or nosy authorities.

Anyway, you can buy one outright from the Well-Hung store, or you can simply pick up any strap at regular price, and ask me to include one in the package. I just might!

Put together a little promo vid for my Edmonton Guitar Show appearance happening in just over a weeks' time... maybe it'll get picked up on the socials. Gotta try stuff!

Yeah, I know... recycled RiffMasters music bed LOL! Anyway, these won't be listed for sale online until after the show,
but any that don't sell off there, watch Reverb for the listings in early Oct. I'll probably boost them here too.
Or travel up to Edmonton for the show, come see dozens of my straps and meet me in-person!

Matty in North Carolina is like a foodie-type, but instead for gear. I know some of you can relate
Any, this dude has seen it all, and knows his onions, and is 100% trusty and correctish

TGIF my brothers!

Good stuff!!! Good luck sir!!!

Accidentally sort of invented something cool and good today. A new Well-Hung product line has been born, now I gotta tweak it.

If you have a favorite guitar that's a bit of an anchor weightwise, keeps you from playing it more, you might want to keep watching this space as I develop this new Well-Hung "BeastMaster" guitar strap.

aIzQbPtG_o.jpg

Not complicated really...find heavy duty material of the right resistance for an 8.5-12 lb. guitar, 3"wide, with handy non-slip silicon-ish grip built inside. Grippy enough so it works just excellent on either shoulder if you ever want to try the 'ol side carry. It's fun!

Now there are plenty of clowny black elastic straps out there go "boi-oi-oing!" Too much! Too silly! Way too easy to go of control.

This one hardly moves a half inch under 8.8 lbs. You can push it another five or seven inches by adding a little downward pressure. But even with approx 13 lbs on it, that weight doesn't seem at all uncomfortable. The rig kind of hugs you, keeps the guitar real close.

Fhz79ggg_o.jpg

Been testing this prototype for a couple hours today. It was an idea I wanted to take to the guitar show but it's performing way beyond my expectations, totally something else.

Adapts fantastically for pulling the neck up high and tight. Or push it right down and go all machine gun with it without even thinking about it. Crazy good.

Plus with my riveted leather "BeastMaster" design, I can style 'er up, color match guitars and go with different hardware choices in the rivets. SO very customizable!

No super fast to build, but not too crazy either. Gonna build myself one specifically for that green LP, see if I can find a way to pad it a bit but it's really not required.

Tossed and turned last night thinking about this thing LOL! I get excited!
Got up early, made three things: Coffee, breakfast, and..

Another BeastMaster!
Prototype 2

dtanRPuQ_o.jpg

This time I tried sewing each of these dyed-to-match gator panels onto the athletic band. Doesn't seem to affect the general flex, maybe a little bit to the lesser. barely discernable. I could still add some hardware. I like how these panels sit a bit better slightly closer to each other. I left the top of the lowest panel open, functional as a handy pick pocket - Like this version so much I didn't bother to try to pad it. Maybe I will tomorrow. Still gotta keep trying stuff. I know that will limit the minimal flex, when I stitch along the vertical of the strap, it'll will do that. When you want things to flex you need to use a zig-zag stitch. My machine don't do that fancy stuff. Sewing horizontal across the 3" width won't affect stretch at all.

Damn I gotta change out those gold frames. What was I thinking? So awful. Next string change!

Today I completed two new No Prisoners series straps named "Bonded" and 'Posse"

For anyone new watching, No Prisoners straps are where I take a found item such as a belt, or whatever,
and build a strap around it, or use it as a feature on top of a belt. Some belts I find are kind of cheapy
accessory things, but I do NOT compromise on the tail and nose ends, using good leather. Also the base
here, the main body is at 3" wide for these both is real leather, padded, rolled edges for comfort.

I have not repeated the same piece twice in seven years of making them.

X7zyLEMp_o.jpg

I get a lot of interest at the guitar show I go to on my No Prisoners line, because of the uniqueness. Each one is special, and I wanted to get to this Sunday's show with at least five or six new ones.
Any new I've built that don't move off during the show, will be hitting Reverb in early October

I also crafted another "BeastMaster" over the past couple of days, the third iteration/prototype.
On this latest red croc one, I'm finding the larger, and the fewer of them, and the amount of space between is
slightly affecting the amount elastic flex, which would be expected.

I also added a bit of black EPDM foam underneath the red tiles, bulges them out a bit for a bit of 3D,
but they still don't look near a poofy as some comfort straps! Come to think of it, this is sort of
is getting close to venturing into Wookie ammo belt territory, isn't it?

H12cC7DQ_o.jpg

Also tried adding padding to inside of the red one, and lined it with some stretchy velvet material, and that also seemed to take away a little spring too. Maybe it's just perfect now for someone with an 11 pounder. It felt like it was taking off a bit too much off for floating my green singlecut. But there's no doubt the padding REALLY adds an extra level of comfort, so it becomes a bit of a trade-off. I add some brass rivets to mine bcz I like a little bling. But I'm going to keep the grippy rubber inside my green one so better comparisons can be made by any who wish to try them out

Bench has been busy! Still more new things coming off... I think after noob tomorrow I will cease strap production and start getting ready on other things on the to-do list. But here's a few new pieces

"Ghost Lord"

M918iOv3_o.jpg

"Love Gun"

XMhAPHYY_o.jpg

"Voxy Roller"
ZOSQ7TWi_o.jpg

I gotta press a few T-shirts, sew some beanies, pack a tool bag, duct tape (always gotta have it), bag up some pro-pins, etc...

So my one man strap factory is cranked up full blast, but I am done! Tomorrow I pack it all up and take it on the road!

A couple new Devil's Leash alternate saugerties slings in the dark look

l2H1i38S_o.jpg

L'IL Swagger, here with the black leather link strap, 2-1/4 inches wide, no padding! Class Act back buckle too... so extra!

hI1zx3Vi_o.jpg

Then this painful thing! OMG
So when I ordered in these larger five point star studs, I had NO idea how difficult they were to work with. I cussed out loud a hundred times building this thing I call "StarF**ked." Push the barbs through the leather, only one way to do it right, gotta have your fingers right behind... Then, the pressure slowly builds and finally the leather gets pierced along with your poor damn fingertip! 5X each star! Definitely some tvvoodoo DNA included in this one.

Still saved a couple new ones to show tomorrow!
