TVvoodoo's Straplab

my phone is like an extension of my body, I'm definitely going through serious device separation withdrawal rn
I can understand. You have a business. You need and use your phone for that. I’ve never needed my phone for my job. In fact. I’ve had customers ask for my cell phone number and all I had to say was that it’s not a company phone. I don’t give the number to customers. They’ve always respected that.

Oh yeah. I do use mine to play solitaire. There are priorities.

I hate the small screen. I browse at home on the tablet or laptop and do banking etc on the desktop. All the pics, editing, video editing etc is done on desktop.
Phone is for texting, phoning, some pics, game tickets, app for mixer etc.
We all do it differently!
Hopefully a new screen gets Brad back in biz to transfer to a new phone!

Yea , you and I are pretty much alike on this Geoff, I do banking and all correspondence on the desktop, just basic on my phone texting, phone calls. Don't have data and don't want any..

Still plenty of time for USA delivery for the season, for purchases probably nearing ONE week from today.
Inside Canada, probably 2 weeks.

Stuck for a gift from the lady? Tell her you'd like something from the Well-Hung Store.
See how fast she moves.

Haven't been posting much here, but still working in the background. Finally got my replacement phone yesterday, and I will verily tell you this:
The past 13 days, I've practically slept like a cough syrup'd baby each and every night. Hardly any wake-ups or restlessness.

So I get my phone yesterday, and like your average crack addict, right back to surfin' right up until lights out. Found myself tossing
and turning all damn night long. Geez... I wonder if there's a correlation? It's actually crazy. Anyway, just a short PSA.

So I sent away this monster a couple days ago... maybe it was yesterday? It's all been a blur. Terrible photo... Had to fire up an ancient digicam here with a broken view screen from my newsgatherin' days, so I couldn't really see much of what I was taking -

Shock & Awe, Space Warrior theme!

Full leather body outside and in, padded and a bunch of spacey patches. Can't see the Space X mission patch, the Star Trek Enterprise crew, or the second more official looking Space Force patch, but it turned out pretty cool. It's good to know there will be a militia member now on watch from above. Did it in dark brown "aviator" leather. One other theme strap I did was for a Zombie Hunter dude years back. So much fun to hunt down the patches on like ebay and such and plan the straps out for some fellas - but the patches can really add up fa$t.

Got a few other things complete too... a set of black basket cases, a really cool white strap with black tooled Iommi crosses all up and down, some new Downtown Brown Devil's Leash straps. Won't bother showing those until fresh after the holidays. Don't make sense to do a bunch of promo then close up my store, because I will be traveling for the season. Start the new year off with some fresh ready-made goods!

Of course that whole other "Event" thing going on elsewhere here on TTR is eating up a bunch of time too, but that's fun/play time, and I look at it as a way to give something back to the community here, which has been so supportive of what I do. Plus I think it helps us all bond and
forge better relationships. Been weird though, I'm used to just running these things and not being a participant. So leading into this one I had it in my mind to come up with something where I could also join in the fun and share the awful experience.

One other thing I just finished minutes ago was a gift for my daughter's boyfriend for a Christmas gift. Jed's an interesting cat, plays a little guitar, but is much more into "beats" which he says he manages to sell somewhere online. A bit of a side hustle for him. Anyway, he has a black Squier Bullet, with one of those 2" shoulder pounder poly things on it, so i figured I'd make him something more substantial, and personal-like.

I'm looking forward to watching his face carefully when he opens the gift - LOL! If there is one thing he does NOT exude is cowboy vibes. Might even hate it. But the wild west style always works in my opinion, and it's a gorgeous hand-tooled beast, 3" wide, padded, in mahogany brown + black antiquey detailing - We shall see.

My apologies for not posting much this last little bit - I know there are some folks watching this thread. Losing my phone really set me back and many thanks to Jethro for jumping in like a champ to help me get it back. That's a real brother for ya! He was under duress too!

I can happily report I crunched the numbers, and the sales goal I made for myself at the beginning of this year was hit late last week, though sales have off fallen real sharp the past ten days. Not really the Nov. / December I was hoping for, but the rest of the year was kind of a win. Overall positive news for me... Means I'm good on my hopeful promise to my wife, and can keep doing this for another year, instead of working for the man. Hopefully I may have a chance to go to work for those now reading this during 2024!

A bit of a bump will go on my quota for 2024, of course, and I'd sure like to find a way to cut some costs, but man inflation is just kicking
the poo out of all of us ain't it? Four years ago a gallon of the glue I use for leather was $54. Picked up another recently at $99, and leather
sure ain't getting cheaper either!

Well. I do know you’ve got at least one strap sold once my kid figures out what he wants for his new Taylor.

There may be some “correlation”. Some people report similar effects from prolonged exposure to the unnatural color balance of today‘s artificial lighting tech, and extended screen time that seems to have become so prevalent. Some people are more sensitive than others, and there are other symptoms that are reported.
If you are wearing reading glasses for your screen time, you may want to look into readers with ”blue light filtering”. If you wear regular prescription glasses for far and near(like progressives or bifocals), this filtering tech is(should be) available from your eye care professional. One thing that these professionals may not be forthcoming about is the fact that much of the filtering tech used in the lens materials has been culled from Transitions lenses (plastic based photo chromatic lenses - the ones that get dark when exposed to sunlight/UV rays). If you wear these lenses, you already have “blue light filtering” on your face. It can be further enhanced by a blue light filtering anti-reflective coating.
IMHO there has not been adequate clinical study time to determine the actual “need” for protection(for the widespread populace) from this self created issue, but I do understand that those that experience symptoms (interference with circadian rhythms - sleepless/restless nights is a flag) can sometimes find a benefit in this newer eyewear tech.
…or….maybe just light a candle and read a real book. ;)

Oh. Theres a correlation for sure. My wife is on her iPad and/or phone nearly every waking moment right up to and past going to bed. And oddly, she sleeps like crap. And when she can’t sleep. Picks up the iPad and plays more games. But I’m not stupid enough to point that out.

I try to put down the phone an hour before bed time. If I don't, the Kopf Kino "brain cinema" runs all night. Looking at a book or magazine definitely helps curb the effects of a phone or computer screen.

New in the Well-Hung store, something I've wanted to make again for a couple years, finally did just before the holidays... the return of "Machismo" - Get your Free Tickets to the gun show, right here baby!

fT7VNYNa_o.jpg

This Greek key-like design i came up with remind me of "gun show" poses, biceps and lats. Look twice if you don't see it the first time.
If that wasn't enough, I added some flat smashed nickel rivets that won't ding your guitar. Tobacco colour, over-dyed in black and dark brown. Great on a vintage burst. This is HEAVY leather, men. 9 oz vegtan. Goes 44-57 ish. Nice and long, padded too. Heavy duty stage ready.

Also check the Well-Hung store for "Five Crosses" a brand new design in vintage white. Don't often make light coloured straps, because to me they usually seem rather feminine, but the black-tooled Iommi style crosses with the glinty nickel hardware really badass this up. I can see it working great on a blacked out white paul for sure. Real stage presence from like even 200 yards away.

cg4Uqxph_o.jpg

The flatted-out rivets really catch the light nice... giving this thing a bit of extra stage spice!
It's all in a brand new design of mine too: a tough black denim lining wraps around the edges just a tiny bit to keep the white leather from chawing into your neck. Heavy harness leather nose and tail, padded.

6JifaqlI_o.jpg

Hoping Santa was nice to you! I got a new secret wardrobe weapon now, for RiffMasters, Hell, even for LIFE!
My dear lovely wife knows just how to make me happy, though I don't often seem to look it LOL!

Behold! If you know, you know.

How about a new Shock & Awe to kick off the new year? #98 is almost ready for deployment.
All you gotta do is tell me your preferred lining, and how much padding you want.

I think I'll add a couple burn marks too.

Ye27maT7_o.jpg

Also put up a new Downtown Brown Devil's Leash in the store today - I made a few of these 'cause they tend to move a bit faster
- this version is LONG! Even past 60" for you there with the weird orangutan arms. Wanna throw steve clark shapes? Here's how.
Very dark brown leather, padded, rolled edges.

sQcuKQ8f_o.jpg

Also new in the Well-Hung Reverb Strapateria... beautiful not-so-basic black cowhide Basket Case II. One of the coolest straps I make (my opinion). Every guitarsenal needs a black strap or two, why not have an awesome one, instead of a regular boring blahhhhk one?

6rcYtReu_o.jpg

All 3" wide, padded, longer, stronger and built by a guitarist (so I claim, possibly rather weakly) for guitarists.

Behold! If you know, you know.
I love both those straps!!

@Ramo you supply the bullets? I can't ship those. I'd need to know what caliber, and how long you need the strap to go. Do you want i2.5" or 3" wide, and padded or no padding.

I have rivets, grommets and buckles already. But probably a couple hundred US BEFORE the cartridges.

fake bullets

You can purchase fake rounds but I don't think anybody would dare try ship across an international border. Budget approx $5 per round if you go fake, and it's really the safe way to go.
