TVvoodoo's Straplab

From the bench today, two Dark Crocolates emerged... one with the pebbly side grain croc pattern shown below

FeMiNi1B_o.jpg

And another with the large rectangles croc pattern... both are from the same hide, just grain pattern variations. Or more actually, differences in the embossing pattern on the cowhide double shoulder.

This is a beautiful skin. Great body, elegant emboss, rich colour and just a bit of shine to the finish. Both of these straps adjust via back-buckles, my own "Class Act" design with the pass through on the back end to protect your precious. Super easy to adjust, without even having to remove your guitar. Both go real too, between 43" all the way down to a "shape throwers'" dream sling, getting to 60" in length. And of course, Well-Hung padded and even more comfy than your thick sister-in-law.

These will go up on reverb tomorrow. One of my best straps, pro-duty, beautiful, badass.

Today was just a "Devil-may-care" sort of day in the Straplab ... let my imagination drift a bit further off course than normal,
and the result was "End Times" just gettin' ready for the coming strapocalypse I guess.

Had this super-distressed leather, with kooky sort of random gatory scale prints on parts of it, but it fades in and out in over sections of the hide. It's also the sort of stuff that looks like it's been drug behind a truck for a few miles. So, staying in theme, I went and sewed some random fun stuff all over it, basically forgetting the rules I typically follow. Smashed rivets, half a zipper. There's a spring loaded key keeper stitched on the front, relic'd. Small grommets, big grommets, frayed fabric,,,, lacing... sewn leather, torn leather, just totally freestylin' it, babe. That's what the "F" stands for, by the way! Or, whatever! it's gonna look great on some guitar, don't know which what though!

MghhiFKA_o.jpg

I guess it's more art project than anything, but it's also a very comfy padded strap at 3" wide. Super black leather ends.
Seriously looks like something out of Mad Max though. Goes 44 - 58 pretty easy. Ultra-padded.

Crazy thing. Kinda unique. Never know with these things. Might be in the store a long time, might sell right away LOL!

Today I'm going to introduce you to Justin Wierenga, if you don't know of him already. Grand Rapids based, pretty much everything musician, and Well-Hung pro! He's the dude with the cowboy hat here

He purchased a Well-Hung strap a couple years ago, and now I'm following his instagram. He plays rock, jazz, folk, fusion, a lot solo gigs on six string, bass, steel guitar and whatever he decides to pick up. Some pretty freaky-deaky fusion, new age stuff too. Anyway, he's a busy fella, and a total gearhound. Justin messages me maybe ten days ago, shows me this guitar in the case shot... a recent pickup, '79 custom. Says it has some Puddle of Mudd provenance.

EpLAS3WD_o.jpg

JW gigs a lot, and has some shoulder issues, so he LOVES his previous Well-Hung. He asked me what I had in the pipeline... anything might work for his custom... Turns out I just the day before I had ordered some hide from Italy, I'm calling whiskey python... and we agreed, pretty cool. So, it took about ten days for it to show up, came in on Friday. Today that was job one... Whiskey python #1 for Justin.

Also, started a few new Prophecy series straps over the past rainy weekend. Wife and I had planned to go camping, kayaking etc.. but the weather was just brutal, cold, rainy, windy. We stayed home instead. Finished "Cross of Blood" this morning

sOGSa77t_o.jpg

It's my typical build, but of course with the xtra fussiness... a fancy front feature sort of in the style of those other guys, who ain't doing it no more, 'cause some troubles. These take quite a lot of work, layers, detail stitching etc. Mine are much more padded, wider too, and not quite so pricey. Leather burgundy croc cross on silver sheridan embossed vinyl, a few studs and a cool stone center feature. The Base is buttery black leather, 3" wide. Goes 43-58" If you have an idea for a custom something like this, maybe in different colour scheme hit me up! Thjis one goes to Reverb tomorrow I figure. You got yourself a transred SG and want to get your Iommi on?

First off, today I'm celebrating Al Salecker, guitarist with highly acclaimed Stones tribute "Beggar's Banquet."
This past week he's been celebrating 18 years with that outfit, in the obvious role of you-know-who!

7C1GC5eY_o.jpg

Al is pushin' 70 himself, does between 30-50 gigs a year, and knows his way around a stage, what works, what does not. Definitely a seasoned pro. Here's what he dropped in my Reverb feedback the other day after getting a Dirty Honey Python series strap... his third Well-Hung sling inside a few months:

Fast shipping..another wonderfully comfortable strap from Well-Hung. My 3rd!
Best straps I have ever used in over 50 years of performing. ...Brad is the real deal guys. Buy his stuff!"
Al S.

That's pretty powerful. He's also wearing a Cobra Chai floating pad strap as well as "Well of Souls" Genocide series.
Sure wish he'd discovered Well-Hung ten years ago! Him too probably! If you have not yet, what are YOU waiting for

As promised, "Cross of Blood" is now in the store. I also managed to finish another Prophecy and upload it too!
"Dragon King" has swooped in and is ready to be scooped up! She's a beaut! Unfortunately these take about twice as long
as my typical strap.

TVtAAiS9_o.jpg

"Dragon King" sports a striking 6.5" tall gothic cross in heavy black elephant hide embossed leather with HUGE texture. It sits upon a beautiful upholstery fabric with a metallic bronze and tans. A small decorative concho item in antique brass, with a black stone in the middle sits on cross. Finally, four antique brass rivets in two sizes help tie it all together. The cross is sewed on with saddle coloured leather and the outline of the upholstery fabric feature is in tan thread. quite striking.

Beautiful black moto leather, lots of grain.. heavy stuff. Killer strap.

BcUTxmb3_o.jpg

"Vintage Valour" is 3" wide on the shoulder, black leather, with rolled over sides. NOT chop-off edges like those vampire straps that bite your neck. In the main body for 21" or so, there is luxe medium density foam padding for comfort, in the "almost-famous" Well-Hung way. Leather has a quite a bit of top grain, not pebbled, but it's there, and feels substantial.

HKQO5Yya_o.jpg

On the frontside, "Vintage Valour" sports a striking 6.5" tall gothic cross in white leather that I dyed mint green... you know, like those aging fender pickguards. In photos it seems to lean yellow, more like aged knobs, but here beside me, definitely steers more green. Maybe it's right in-between. Might add one more drop of green to my formula. I was testing my dye skills for a custom project, so this cross was a test to show the dude I can achieve that look. It's legit!

0NrBclZz_o.jpg

The minty cross is held down to saddle/amber leather inset in croc emboss leather. White stitching, four nickel spots in two sizes, and a beautiful 5/8" Celtic cross in the middle in aged silver. All comes together beautifully - in my head while making it I was aiming for a Prophecy strap that'd sit perfect on a vintage burst strat with that aged pickguard look. You know the one, the vibe is classic LOL! Nothing gets me jazzed better than aiming to hit a particular guitar with a perfect sling accompaniment!

This is Stanley M, singer guitar slinger of up and coming rock power trio Midnight Crow.

uk2o1yT0_o.jpg

He and bass bandmate Gene keep telling me (and all the gals) they are Well-Hung artists! They talk us up all the time on instagram keep tellin me they LOVE my straps. I love that they love 'em!
Now I don't talk them up enough for what all they do for me but right now they are trying real hard to crowdfund an album. They need only 6k more to get back in the studio to finish as I understand it.

They have one track down and it's real REAL tasty! A frickin banger! Have a listen!

As the kids say, that SLAPS!

Anyway, if you want to support independent heavy rock music and ambitious upstarts like these extra cool dudes drop them a $20 or $50 to lay down more good music like this or even a cover song special just for you! Tell 'em Brad from Well-Hung sent ya

Today off the bench a couple of 1969 Proud Marys

YEfzCBkv_o.jpg

3" wide maroon suede, with hootenanny ribbon. Ultra padded of course... go as
deep as 59" for you fellas with orangutang arms

Beautiful!

I'll try to fix most superficial hatchet wounds on you, but any deep to the bone or chainsaw damage I will refer you to Dr. Kid Rock.

@Mr. Potato Head How often do you suffer fom these, if you don't mind my asking?
I’ll keep that in mind. Haven’t gotten myself with the ax while splitting wood….. I do have a couple pair of jeans where the chain saw ripped them. Got very lucky and did not get skin. Big selling point for wearing chaps whilst running a chain saw.

I know it's going to be real hard going for some of you, but one of my life goals is to wean all you gadget-loving strap-doubter guitarists to the elegant simplicity and practicality of Well-Hung Pro-Pins!

tCbbGAJt_o.jpg

To do that, I have finally relented to numerous pestery requests to offer black and gold finishes in addition to the regular bright nickel. Unfortunately the best, most secure screw hardware I can find for these is still only available in nickel... but it's an ok look in my opinion. All you scary none-more-black ghouls will have break out a sharpie!

There have been a couple of small design changes, will detail them later this week when I make the Reverb listings... this version is called V.3.

Silent. Wonderfully secure.
Approx. 2X the strap holdback surface area. No metal dust. Fewer parts subject to loss or sudden failure. No weird install tools required. No wobble-wobble in the shaft to self-loosen. Real fur felt washers come with, plus a suitably trusty screw. And way, way, WAY sexier than all those clunky strapparatuses.

I mean C'MON!!! This is what a typical mushroom button mounts with. Small wonder so many have been reduced to "Toothpick Gluthiery."

If you love your guitars, this is the #1 most-required mod/upgrade in my book. Not for all guitars, but many will benefit. For you? More peace of mind than you probably deserve!
Happy Saturday!

from the lab today, completed one of these, but have three more in the pipeline...
This is going to be a budget version of my Prophecy series, as the main body is a really cool upholstery fabric, I picked up to try years ago for amplifier grill for an
amp I was working on. Unfortunately it was terrible grill cloth, more mufflecloth

So, I'm using it up to make some straps. Still got layers of leather on the frontside, some rivets and a fun concho. I lacquered the gray leather the cross is on, to give it a shine and a bit
of an antiquey look, hence the name of the strap...

I AM The Lacquer

I am the lacquer.jpg

The cross is made of an elephant hide embossed leather I painted metallic gold. Really jumps out. Black leather on the nose and tail. Great strap for anything in a black, gold theme with a bit of gray, silver mixed in

I am thinking I might need one of those.
