Was actually chatting with a TTR brother here, discussing strap ideas and I pitched him something with tooled chain links down the length of the strap.
I don't think he was super keen on the idea, but well, I figured it might be cool and fun to try... probably somebody will buy this anyway. |Above, carved into the leather,
below, mostly done beveling out the subject from the background to give it that 3D effect

Now various guitar players have tried using actual metal chain to suspend guitars, probably successfully but man, that can't be too comfortable, right?
So, I figured why not see if we get that aesthetic with big heavy leather, and massive 3" links? Actual chain this size would probably weigh 15 pounds by itself.

I figured I'd break it up a bit for interest, and tool in one chain link on the verge of failing, just because I felt it needed a little drama. Everyone digs a little drama.
Also, you can see here I used a backgrounder tool to distress up the background which makes the chain jump out a bit more even.

I got to thinking of something in my head that I could carve into the tail strap for a little extra interest, while making all these links. Ended up inventing my own Viking proverb.
It's not a real Norse saying probably, but it's absolutely a universal truth. Maybe you folks up on your Runic alphabets, or code decipherin' can translate!
Man, I remember the hours I spent figuring out all the runic writing on the Diary of a Madman cover and sleeve when i was a teen, fun times.

Got my wood in, winters on, battery charged, mitts dry and the shovel ready. Man, all this doggone prepping for winter got me in the mood for some
over-the-top Canadian Content in regards to guitar straps.

New "Canucklehead" series, will be four or five only, in red/black lumberjackin' plaid, warm, strong and long as a Lodgepole Spruce.

Also, "Too Heavy" is almost ready for sale... just putting a couple of final finish coats on it. highest quality vegtan at 2-3/4" wide, hand-tooled, lightly padded, with a made up Viking proverb in runic letters on the tail strap whih speaks of different types of axes and possible damage potential

And, I watched the recent ZZ Top rockumentary. Was entranced by some Texas/western flash matching straps Dusty and Billy were sporting during some "Live" bridge bits.
Tried my hand at making something similar, it's gonna be lit! Almost ready, and the Well-Hung version will be exponentially more comfortable, as you would expect.

Fella wanted to incorporate black leather, a triangle motif (to match fretboard inlays), in a different theme to somehow accent his zebra pupped supershred strat
I suggested the salt 'n pepper grill for the black/creme scheme, and adding the leather on top added a super funky texture. I believe he's another one of them
Marshall disciples, so this should work well for him

"Down With It" is totally going to look real great with his ibby

Just a little reminder... if you are aching to be Well-Hung, perhaps pointing your dearest wife, (or mistresses/boy toy, no judging),
towards the reverb site for seasonal gift giving, might address at least a few of the world's solveable problems!

Also, custom leather work, tooling, initials, fancy straps etc... probably a good idea to start thinking, reaching out to me now.
I'm not anticipating any big seasonal rush... but I also don't want to leave anyone shamefully drunk and in tears under the tree this year like I was
last year. :pound-hand:

what the hell is this? latex glove with polysporin-filled fingers! Why?

strange story... so a few weeks ago I started to record that song... "Red Satin Dress" and was basically wood shedding pretty hard, working on my callouses again,
because frankly, they were pretty much gone... haven't played much electric bendy stuff for a long time.
While working on the lead part and in the zone for an evening. Well, I should have quit about an hour before i did. just basically played through the pain,
and totally shredded up my index and middle fingertips up pretty nastily. Bad mistake! NO guitar for at least a week. Way too painful.
Six days week later they seemed to be healing over nice, and there was bits of skin kind of falling off, sort of scabby broken skin. I kind of chewed some of it off with my teeth.
the tips would swell up and get tight, then shrink down, leaving a bunch of crusty skin on top. Real tender, but healing nice, so, I
started to think about playing guitar again... tried a little bit.... still just a bit too painful. About the same time, I stupidly sliced into both of them with my leather knife here in the shop.

Didn't think much about it, just like I always do, a couple of bandaids, keep working away. a few days later OMG, my finger tips really started hurt. The scabs from
the cuts had fallen off, but the healing inside seemed to be real slow. Been on a bit of a road trip the past four days, and while away from the shop my two fingertips started swelling up even more, getting super painful, even with the ends now turning a bit of a yellowy colour, which i figured has gotta be some kind of evil infection. This is NOT GOOD!
Every time I bang them on the steering wheel while driving, i'm firing off an F-Missle. Wondering if this is going to be a permanent damage thing

So this morning, I have a custom order strap to make, and it's gretting real hard to work. This can't go on. eventually at lunch I take an extra hour, soak my fingers in salty hot water.
then, I squirt a bunch of polysporin antibiotic cream into the finger ends of a latex glove, and keep working.

anyway, it's a story, and crap I'm dealing with right now. will this work? I hope so. Next I'm gonna try soaking them in rum!

"Flak" is a No Prisoners Series one-only unique strap featuring thick gray cowhide, and a securely sewn woven feature belt in metallic gunmetal and black, with a few nickel rivets thrown on for good measure. Rolled edges for neck comfort, thick but compressy padding, and goes real nice and long from 47" to about 62" if you need that much! Most store-boughts are only good for about ten inches less, leaving many disappointed or angry.

@jtcnj I don't know, man looking at my fingers and what they have been through, Hell, still going through.
I can type now at least. but man they are VERY slow to heal. Still very tender. They sort of heal. then the layer
that above gets all crusty, and wants to flake off. When it finally does, it damages the layer below again, and it all
starts over. This is like the third time though. eventually maybe it will all heal up?
