TVvoodoo's Straplab

last couple days been working on a new set of five Shock & Awe straps. @Sp8ctre can tell you all about 'em.

This is the strap that started it all for me ten years ago. The first strap i ever made, was for a forum charity drive, and it was something like this.
Soon after, others started asking for similar, and well I had to find a way to make 'em. The design has changed a bit over the years, I think
I made maybe twenty of them before I started to individually number them. Didn't start making the bullet shaped nose until maybe number 55 or so.

But from day one, they've always been kind of badass, loaded up with military insignia, badges, brass stars, I also "relic" them up before sending.
This is no dress parade strap.... gotta look battle worn. Burns, stains, frayed edges, scuffs... etc. I use all manner of tools, to do it.
All on 3" wide fully milspec COTTON vintage surplus Korean War webbing, that probably come off some airdrop package, or towed a jeep out of the mud.
they also feature my own devisement of a double D-ring adjustment on the back end that makes them go REAL LONG, and it's easy to set up.

They are quite labour intensive and a little bit expensive to make, a lot of sweat and, maybe even some tears
And, if I happen to bayonet myself while sewing and incur a mortal wound? MAN DOWN! ----- MEDIC!!!

my inner Bob ross just calmly soothes... "Whoopsies... Oh my! How unfortunate! How bout we just dribble out a little happy blood spurt over here?
(this of course, after a few other choice adjectives/adverbs that blurt out).
No big deal, it's how Well-Hunginans can play authentic! ;)

Hey didn't Vai's DNA Jem series with his own blood mixed into the paint?

anyhoo, this is what I've been up to last few days. Still gotta punch some holes, and mess 'em up a bit.
If you are wondering what happened to #78, it has already been sniped by Miguel "El Torito" in Texas. I showed it earlier in this thread.
#82 is already claimed as well headed to Britain.

Anyway, I look at this strap as my flagship line, my best of the best, only for the best of the best, (and me, because I own #09)!

In my attempts to be a fulltime strapman, I've been forced to accept a part time gig as an apt. maintenance "Schneider" to make things work better financially. Sometimes it's just not fun... past couple days I've been fighting with a stopped toilet in unit #1, so they can once again do #2. Finally just pulled the whole thing today in desperation... and backed out a rather large wooden caterpillar toy. nasty!

That's me, living the glamour life baby!

The Shock and Awe straps are amazing! Wow up to 82 already, I have 60. I think I see some of the extra patches I gave you on a couple of those...

Yes @Sp8ctre, probably a couple extra you sent me being put into action. I can probably make another five or six then I will have to go patch hunting again.

this morning I am working in the virtual straplab for a custom job for a trans red thinline. This is the second round of designs.. we are narrowing it down.
he likes black leather, chrome and red gator and a slightly showy feel. I found some pearloid cowboy snaps I had kicking around that are kind of cool.
I also have some cowboy button snaps that are black gems with chrome bezels I might toss out to him later just to fully confuse the guy
I wonder which one he's gonna to pick? Which seems right to you?

Today we said farewell to Billi... one of those "Best Dogs Ever!" Sixteen years old, hips crippled, nearly deaf and blind but still a gentle loving heart which has now stopped beating.

So protective our home and its occupants, we are grateful she chose our family after wandering off half starved from someone less-deserving of her loyalty and love many years ago by camping out on our front porch until we claimed her. She loved fetching sticks from as far into the lake as we could huck 'em. She'd play balloon bounce for hours off her nose if you let her, and chase the hell out of a squirrel in her younger days.

Hardly a bark, never a bite, a fantastic faithful companion.

Many tears were shed.20210423_164628.jpg

Very sorry, Brad. We went through the same with our 18 year old cat, Shadow. We had her since she was 6 months old and she was older than our kids. It was very tough to say “goodbye”.

Thank you for all your memorial wishes fellas.

Though my wife was waiting to make the final decision and she maybe waited a bit too long. Billi was really her companion. She's kind of heartbroken. The grave had been dug in a special place last fall as a signal to her. We took billi there on friday, and somebody else had "planted" their pet in the hole I my son and I had dug, and put a small cross up. Who TF does that? Talk about rude! \

We had a pair of spades with us of course, and had to dig a new one... but the ground is still a bit froze up here, and it was kind of a nasty day, which made the whole experience a less than ideal memory.
Anyway I almost was able to jut about finish Crocky Diamond yesterday, but then had to make a "quick" 9 hour two way trip to fetch my dad from the city hospital... again! This is getting to be a pattern.

At least he's back now! For how long? Dunno.

Finally done up this morning... couple of progress shots, couple of finished shots. Affixing the cowboy pearloid button tops

Sewing some detail stitching, I think this is going to look killer on his trans red telecaster, with the MOTS guard,

Sittin' on my po' boy red special thing

A lot of this detail sewing is done by computer controlled/programmed machines in the factories.
I don't have one of those. LOL!

@Yargnad I had to go look that up... maybe if he'd have worn a really nicely padded strap his sciatic nerve might not have suffered the damage he claims!
I do know at least two fellas who tried certain straps because of inflamed/damaged sciatic nerves from accidents and such, were able to stand up to play again
for at least short periods... and they were quite amazed at least in the short term, have not really kept up with them.

I'm no sawbones, but I'll bet sitting down to play gives you an overall higher risk of heart attack than running around. pullling poses and rockin' out a bit

today I got a couple new things up in the store.

Something called "Glitterati" which is basically a milky way of glittery fun shown here entering Warp Speed

Also for the lovers of paisley and purple both (you know who you are, you twisted FREAKS!), "Deep Paisley"

And for the ironic moment of the day, Went over to visit my mom and pop today, pop fresh out of the hospital for at least a few days we hope (he's been back and forth).
Of all things to worry about recently diagnosed as terminally ill, he hands me over his wristwatch... Tells me to please reinforce the strap for him. He's been trying to repair a
cracking plastic band with gorilla glue with little success. He's also what many people would call a millionaire. Sheesh!

So tonight I made him the first ever Well-Hung StrapLab watchband, in a cool black croc-embossed cowhide. Guess I'll call it an early fathers' day gift LOL! \
And it is fully befitting this quality heirloom timepiece I may now be well-positioned for, proudly supporting this $20 dollar Casio

Not something i want to get into as a regular thing. But some folks are really into watches and bands and stuff. Personally haven't worn a watch since around 2009 or so.
Besides, does anyone really know what time it is?
