Gotta put the Metal Pride project on the back burner for a couple days, but after several discussions we still need to figure out exactly where we are going with it.
I put the nay nay on doing the whole strap in the rainbow theme. Told him if he did that he'd have to get a fuzzy green wig, some big yellow shoes, and a red nose with that LOL
Less will be more in this case. Let the guitar be the star.
I have now started on a tooling gig, for a high school graduation gift for a young fella down in Moose Jaw. Every been there?
I know for sure Jethro has, quite the underground scene down there eh
@Jethro Rocker ?
As described by his aunt, he's 6'1, and plays everything from old time country, to quite the opposite. His fave band is Slayer.
Kai sports a black flame LTD 7string superstrat as his main gun. So, we went with sort of a heavier theme. in the tooling...
A big ol' lightning bolt, with some AC/DC style name lettering, and hotrod flames. OK Not exactly metal, but definitely rock 'n roll.
He is also probably tickled pink today that his team won a huge game 1, apparently Kai is a huge Flames fan. We talked about putting a flaming Calgary cee on it,
I convinced suggested it would be better to use the more lesser-known flaming horse Calgary Flames logo which is kind of a love it or
hate it thing,,,, but it looks a lot less "advertising" which is something i don't really want to put large and proud on anyones strap.
I made a total doofus mistake in the bolt lines, but forged ahead anyway. Any guy works like I do, is forced over time to get pretty
good at covering up bonehead moves
Me I'm favour the oilers in the ongoing series, mostly because of proximity, what a wild one game one was. These two teams have
bad blood that goes back decades. I remember the glory days in the 80's very well. Probert Semenko baby
But you know? my fave jersey/uniform has always been St. Louis who also won.
Anyway, this strap is actually going to be more LA Kings colours, black/grey/ with some touches of silver when it's done to match his LTD
Here I have the tooling completed, took me 4. 5 hours today, start to finish. It feels good to freshen up on my tooling chops,
I have another one coming next week, a really cool one. Gave t a nice few applications of diluted black dye to get me a grey effect
on the bolt. Most of the strap is heading into darker territory.
