Tuner pedal opinions

I am finding that tuners are the pedals that I am least happy with. I've had three different Polytunes, a Snark, and Korg Pitchblack Portable.

Either too big (Korg), too unreliable (TC Electronic), or too touchy (Snark).

Any preferences and opinions here?

I love my Polytune 3. It's been in constant use for about 2 years and never had an issue. Just keep in mind it is not traveling on a regular basis.

I voted Korg Pitchblack, only because I have one and it works well.
It IS big, but for me that's a plus. Makes it easier too see.

I have the second one, very happy.

Don't have it on the board atm, using it to intonate my guitars.

Getting by with a cheapie, but once you own the strobe- hard to settle for anything else.

I have a Hardwire polytune, but for me I require a strobe tuner. Just can't live without it. I've got two Planet Waves strobe pedal tuners and one Peterson Virtual Strobe clip on tuner. They're both great. But the Peterson gets most use obviously.

Peterson makes a great quality tuner, whatever version.

I'm a big fan of the Peterson Stomp Classic. There are a bunch of great settings. For playing in a band situation, I always us the "Guitar Sweetened" setting which knocks the G and maybe the D a bit flat, so that fretted they sound more in tune. You just have to remember to set it to the normal setting when doing set ups and intonation. Since I bought a Peterson VS-1 for my bench, the Stomp Classic now lives on my board. Not cheap, but well worth the money. After using this side by side to my boss tuners, I found the Boss tuners were both always sharp. So was my Sabine.

I use to use my Boss TU-3 a lot, but my Kemper has a built in tuner that works just fine. My Polytune clip on is also just fine...

That's my favorite right there. Never leave home without it! The newer version looks great too, and is much more affordable than my Stomp Classic.

I was given a Boss TU-3 for Christmas bunch of years ago. I like it a lot, ‘cause I didn’t have to pay for it. But seriously..... it seems to work fine enough for me.

I had completely forgotten about strobe tuners. Haven't seen one since high school band.

The Korg Pitchblack Portable has a strobe mode, but it is discontinued so old stock only.

Thanks to this thread I discovered that my Polytune 3 has a strobe mode that claims to be accurate to .1 cent. Cool.
