TTR seems less active!

I am late to this thread, but I am still here, like my Comrade Jethro mentioned, I have been gone to the cottage for the summer . I will be checking in to see whats taking place in the World of guitar gurus. I have also seen some have left our midst 2 in particular many of us know, I am sad to see this as they were great contributors to this forum, Hopefully anybody who has left will return at some point.

Indeed, bro.

Fly by Night just came on. I just may go listen to it.

TBTH,

I just took a break. The HQ music academy is remodeling, the one in the high desert is not quite ready to open, i was depressed from spending 9 months at a desk inside a concrete box st Fender and i just realized that all my posts about my opinions were not only meaningless, but made me absolutely no money.

I went back to my longstanding practice of 400-600 mile Sunday Drives, deep into the Mojave desert. I also started getting my XR500R back in top shape for a 500 mile trek into Death Valley.

Im also shopping parts for a 302 cubic inch (stroked 4.6 3-valve) replacement engine for YelloMustang with camshafts of my own design being ground by Ultradyne.

Now, im back to doing studio work, but im cutting that intentionally to only 3 days a week and some weekend recording gigs by appointment only.

Im also doing quite a bit of guitar setups, and i must really limit those jobs because they encroach on my free time.

I just got asked to play at a community event for the law firm, so i am looking for personnel for that, but i may just book a friend's band instead.

Life at present is very, very good and im realizing that i got sucked into the "black hole of hearing subtlety" and needed to break out because its a bottomless pit.

I gave up my car hobby to do the 5 night a week business of running a band for and performing for 2 years straight. In retrospect, while there were fun times, im enjoying the vareity more the way things are now.

It got to the point where i finally realized the music hobby is largely fueled by fellows who try to see who can waste more money, proving their personal musical theories than anything else....

Nice on the 4.6 build !! Mine is 2v, Because we have a nice 10 mile loop by the river where we all run. Have stage 1 cam, went back to 3.73 rear for the 5 speed. Sitting at 3000 rpm at corners & wham to 6250. I get at lot of expensive cars cause of set up. Dont have the after 100 mph speed but this is a road course. No cats, tuned 93 octane with some advance set in at right time. pretty quick

My car is currently stock, but im running a full race tune. The "wire" throttle is programmed for 25° throttle angle for every 10° of pedal movement. Full throttle is achieved at only 75% pedal movement.

My timing at WOT retards 2° every 1000 rpm.

The rear end is a 31 Spline HD unit with Ford Racing 4.30 gears.

We made miniature "one chamber" Flowmaster replicas from T304 stainless to fit in the stock muffler location.

The new build will feature thermal barrier coated pistons and valves, ported bowls, a custom cam profile, and 100% Ford or Ford Racing internals.

I wanted to stroke it, but nobody makes a USA crank. Even the Lunati 3.75 crank is made in China, so i may stick with stock parts...

Sounds like you been busy man. Your car is quiet awesome for sure. I'm into Euro's strictly myself but your retro aspect into modern muscle car looks kick ass. I love the hood cables. F'n mean!

The music hobby is mainly fueled by what you say, I agree. IMHO I think it's due to the fact that music is a dead and lost art for the most part. When these things happen people often cling to doing things in the name of being a musician that are not in any way ...musician. Things like, working on amps, creating or significantly modifying music gear, Comradery groups of buying/selling, collecting, testing, and the reviewing of gear. Getting a YouTube channel in the name of being a musician where one is all focused on multiple camera angles, the best broadcasting gear, their broadcast voice and broadcast overall ability. The biggest thing that will turn off a modern musician is topics about music like music education, notes and theory, making music, and links to actual music. Now, there are people that do those things, even here, but I'm not calling or pointing out names. I'm just being general.

GearSlutz is a great example of music being a dead art - if you put a group people with the same interest in a room together, they will sit and embrace in it with excitement together, share ideas, admire one another's work, etc., but when the interest dies ...especially as a result of the art dying itself, they will become bored and eventually fight, become critical of one another, jealous of one another, and may show interest in these "hinged" topics that are just a mere distant sort of association with the original interest.

My .02. Maybe even .01.

By the way, don't you hate when you're really cool and helpful to an individual then they turn around to be a complete wining jealous ass-hat? Just a thought.
