TTR Recording Studio

The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 came in today. Set it up with Reaper and, lo and behold, the process went smoothly.

Now to get familiar with the "auto" and "safe" gain settings on the interface and with the features on Reaper.

Big "thank you" to @Thatbastarddon and @iblive for putting up with my incessant questions via PM. :)
Happy I could offer even a little bit of help. Pretty sure Don had way more helpful answers than I did. But that’s why this place works. Someone will have an answer and be happy to share.

Thanks again guys. Your knowledge and encouragement really helped me feel more comfortable taking the leap.

Working on same very basic stuff at the moment. One step at a time.

Here is the recording amp line up as major gear moves are being made. Choosing to learn to record-track- mix- master has really opened my ears up ! The room is turn key band practice room, Ludwig kit, full PA set up for when needed.recording amps.jpg
Ampeg mini SVT rig, my fav cabs ever to record,

Supro Black Magick - Immediately became where headed next sound wise in recording. This Friday the Supro songs start to roll out, The speaker is the best, the combo is huge sounding, sometimes wonder how it does it.

Bug V22 - first amp ever recorded with & still is my set up tone, know this amp well. It is on my oversize homemade semi open cabs , 11 1/2 depth, and messed with how much open in the back for a long time to get it. Top cab has Marshall Celestion Vintage(very early one) bottom cab has Eminence Swamp Thing. Have British cut & huge American style for mic'ing

SL 100 R/T 3 modes , SL 100 - Super Bass - R/T brownish aggressive, MV, 3 tone shifts on switch, 1/2 power switch. Top cab Peavey V30 & t75 been my Marshall standard for recording. Bottom Cab has Celestion Type V & Crate branded Celestion V12, this rig sound so good in the room, it is dimensional & punchy. Loves the Plexi & DSL's

Have homemade pedal boards everywhere. Have main one with my OD's on but have what i call "flavor" boards like to set up , just a few pedals to inspire.

The 2 most import things in the room, TC Ditto looper & Wiretap looper. When i get a chorus & verse tied to some words in it goes, then drum to it. Once i have a song, 100% focus on the drum track till its ready to go into Reaper, then its on. Like to react very quickly in a 2-5 day period emotionally vs thinking the song out ( ruin them when i do that) Now i learned to do different part in tracking each day, so i feel like a bass player, rhythm player, lead player. That allows for more objective approach then making it so tight in the groove it is sterile.

Having a pretty much treated room for mixing & mastering and the ability to run 50' cables out to the room allows these amps to be wound up in the zone they belong in. It is a joy, long journey to get here. It was always about the songs to me first. The gear is fun but the song recording is a lasting time capsule of life & all the emotions that surround it. recording amps.jpg
