Just saw all these responses. Stepped away for a bit to play some guitar. Don has helped me with what little I've tried to do in Reaper.
I'm reading the Reaper User Manual from their website. And the nice thing is. There are a bazillion videos for both Reaper and the Solo in You Tube. Like any videos on YT, some are pretty much worthless. Others are packed with knowledge.
I've downloaded a few backing tracks and play along whilst learning the song. Site @WavMixer pointed to lets you download the complete song as well as individual tracks. I believe it's actually a Karaoke website. But it lets me do the whole song track. Then split out say the keyboard and drums since I can play neither one of them. Then add my own bass and guitar parts. It's been kinda fun.I basically used the 244 and now the DP03SD as a learning device to help me "decode" songs I'm trying to learn. I hear things on playback that show me where I'm missing the mark more clearly than when it's "live."
This is a great page to keep bookmarked…lots of great video instructions…I'm reading the Reaper User Manual from their website.
We'll see how this goes.
Thanks again guys!
(Almost 500 pages! I think the Tascam manual was like 12.Brave new world for this luddite!)

…and just to add another dimension….I like to mess around with midi backing tracks…there are tons of free midi sites out there, but that’s maybe a bit much to chew on for a beginner.I've downloaded a few backing tracks and play along whilst learning the song. Thanks very much for that! This is a great page to keep bookmarked…lots of great video instructions…
There are many resources available, but…you can always try to keep it simple. Well captured tracks make for easy mixing.
Sometimes less is more. Insert encouraging cliché here. Etc.![]()

This is the one I've been using. I think it's one of the ones Wav said he's used before. There is a minimal cost involved. Maybe 3 bucks. But that 3 bucks gets you unlimited track downloads. As I've done. Complete song. Keyboard track. Drum track. I've done a bass guitar track. Even split out the vocals once. Best thing.... they sound decent. Not like an AM radio playing the song tracks.Yup, me too.
I've been downloading backing tracks or isolated bass tracks and isolated drum tracks from YouTube.
I didn't see the @WavMixer site.

Reaper is like MS Word, it has 10,000 features of which you’ll use maybe 10. I record our band’s practice every Wednesday, 9 tracks in one long 2 hour file. Each track is a GB or so. Someday I’m gonna need to learn how to EQ and master some of that stuff.I'm reading the Reaper User Manual from their website.
We'll see how this goes.
Thanks again guys!

On average, nuts go numb 10 years prior to butts. I read about it on the internet.I’m guessing that’s better than numb nuts.![]()
You read it on the internet, so it must be true.On average, nuts go numb 10 years prior to butts. I read about it on the internet.
Brother Don, without his help let's say back in 2019. I would not be able to make the amount of music i do theses days. Being computer illiterate but a very mechanical mind (locksmith-constuction background)Happy to help, if I am able…as are others here. There are a few Reaper users kicking around these parts.
