I guess I tempted fate -- flipped a FICKLE FINGER at the BEOTCH -- went ALL in and decided to CHANGE ALL 6 STRINGS on the 2015 LP JR (with Robotuners) last weekend -- watched videos --- made my plan---all SEEMED to go well----- the -- tonight when I grabed her as I often due-- punched the button and strummed the strings to get in tune------- the HORROR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 6 tune properly ----- 2 -- are NOT EVEN CLOSE !-- turned it off turned it on-- ........set it by hand (lovely as always -- played an bit and TRIED the troniucals again..............utter desolation G and D are -- well SAYS they are in tune on the tronical they are E and A -- er uhm .......pisss

guess I had a good run what about 2.5 years... ugh.

HOWEVER................................

One Mr "GOO" -- has presented-- nay SHIPPED-- a solution in some lovely "aged" (to match the matte bridge" GROVER -- good ol REGULAR TUNERS!!!!

Thanks GOO -- cant wait to SLAP EM on!!!

Way to go Goo!

The cure for the common tronical:

I gave em a good run boys----- I verbalized my GOOD 1 working set---- out of all the SHITE and hatred --- but they let me down----------(though they might need a battery charge oits been 2.5 years!!!) but I am tempting fate............
hey fate!

so before she ROLLS back around and totally GOOCHES my tronicals-- I shall remove and store as many others have done -- so when my offspring are auctioning off my belongings some kid will get a nice LEs Paul Jr and go --- Hey Dad-- WTF are these THINGS for!?!?!?!?
and the circle will be closed :)

Still use - and prefer - Gibson Green Keys and have none of the tuning issues the "wrong" headstock angle and "poorly thought out" lateral spread of the strings through the nut that the video guy says are reasons why NO Les Paul can ever stay in tune.... :-)

I did use Grover Kidney Beans on Mom's Les Paul Custom Replica just to get her gold keys, but other than finish, I'll take Green Keys every time....

Schwing!

I have good luck with the grovers--- frankly -- I have good luck with most all of them unless they have a mechanical issue-- Im not hard on strings-- I dont WAIL on my gear Ramones style...its all kept at a reasonably consistent temp and humidity I am not a Sweaty person so Im not rusting strings out --- the strings on teh JR. I just changed were the ORIGINAL 2015 factory installed strings-- the ONLY reason I changed them is the "B" string was getting "buzzy" ---- turns out I shoulda just changed the "B"! -- oh well they had a good run-- lasted longer than most as I say they will be in the case for my progeny to profit from when I am gone

This is why all mine were immediately removed and sold while the public was paying good money for them!

I would not have sold it--they would have gone back in the box-- along with the funky brass nut (which I will change when I change the tuners)---
The LP 100 Jr's are going for 150 to 300.00 more than I paid-----Im playing long ball with this little gem---- keeping all the original bits----because down the road I think that sale price will just increase.....money in the bank.

This nonsense drives me batty. I've been playing Les Pauls for 42 years, and have NEVER had tuning issues.

People need to learn how to set up their guitars and keep them adjusted.

This guy asserts his lack of knowledge and personal opinions in many videos:

The one thing I agree with him on is the 14-degree peghead angle. But my preference has nothing to do with tuning stability - I prefer the way the strings feel on the shallower angle.

Agree 100%. When we built the Von Herndon Double Neck, we used a 10° angle on the 12 string neck and a 13° angle on the 6 string...
