TRIO Plus incoming!

LiveeviL2000

Ambassador of Pentagonal Pentatonics
Country flag
Just picked up a TRIO plus on Amazon.
the pedal usually retails for $399.
Amazon has a bundle deal which includes the Trio, the footswitch, power supply, 2 patch cables and 2 instrument cables (don’t know the length of the 4 cables for $354. A saving of about $100 when you figure the cost of the switch and cables.
Should be here tomorrow!
Cant wait to try it out.

Congrats on your new purchase! hope it gives you years of pleasure..

Ok. I started playing around with the TRIO today.
All I can say is 3 words.

ITS FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!!

teaching it a chord progression is super easy.
Hell! I taught it the latest riff I did and I gotta tell you the variety of different beats and bass lines you can mess with is astounding.
So far I hooked it up a few ways.
1) straight from my guitar to two amps. One amp handled the drum and bass line the other the dry signal from my guitar. Using only the onboard OD the Trio has

2) same thing, 2 amps but hooked my pedal board into its onboard FX loop. Turning off the onboard OD.

3) hooked the bass and drums into the FX loop of my amp and the guitar signal with pedal train through the front.

all three sounded good.

I will post the riff with and without the Trio behind it and you guys can hear what it sounds like.

once I figured out how to teach it the progression, I was off to the races and playing. The entire process took me about an hour start to finish.
I haven’t tried the looper yet.

I will record it tomorrow, its already midnight and the boss (my wife) notified me of the impending doom she will rain down on me if I play one more note.:flame:
Since she is getting me my King V for Xmas (thats right @Ramo she is getting me a Jackson). So I gotta be good at least until then. After that ...:electric:
I have no first hand knowledge of this pedal. But it sounds as if this would be a great investment for me.
What are they going for ??

Cheapest I found was on Amazon for $294.99. Normally $399.99
If you go for the bundle you get the following for $354.99.
the trio / 2x6” MXR pancake patch cables / 2x20” MXR Instrument cables / Digitech footswitch controller with 6’ cable.
Let me post a demo video first before you buy it.

After reading the 64 page manual for the Trio, I discovered this pedal is a powerful practice tool.
After toying with it for a while, I have found having a separate speaker for the drums and bass would be optimal.
For the purposes of this demo, I hooked everything into the front of my DSL40CR. I should have balanced the sound a little better in the demo, but I think you'll get the idea.

I am posting the riff I taught it so you can compare with and without the trio.

First without the Trio. Just the riff.

Now with the trio.

This video barely scratches the surface of what it can do. I didnt even go through the looper, which is also robust.
Some of the features it has are ...
It is able to record 5 different parts of a song,
It is able to sequence those parts which ever way you choose. For example I had mine cycle through the riff 3 times.
You could also have it emphasize a part, giving it a more powerful feel to it.
Like I said before, its a powerful tool and going through what I read in the manual would take a ton of typing. But I will be glad to answer any questions you guys have.

@Yargnad things like this need to be researched and read. I can’t go spend this much money and just wing it.
I want to get my money’s worth.
Looks an sounds like an amazing practice tool for a person like myself, my looper is a very good tool for that, but the drums and bass are a major game changer, because they learn your riff / riffs.
And because I do have 2 rigs in my garage, I am thinking of letting the bass and drums come out of those and play my guitar out of the Dsl40c’s

The best part is being able to change everything even after you teach it.
the bass has 3 settings.
Simple= follows the first note in each bar.
Medium= follows the root note of each chord.
Complex= A more dynamic groove with bass fills.
That’s not even including how it changes when you pick a different style and genre.
The best part of this thing is, it waits until you play something or record a loop before it’s starts. You arm it and when you are good and ready you start.

My advice is download the manual and read through. You will find it does some amazing things.

If I were to knock it for anything. It’s the amount of wires needed to set it up.
you need 1 for your instrument. 1 for each amp you will use. 2 for the FX loop for your pedal train. But with the bundle I got on Amazon, that was taken care of.
