Have only plugged it in long enough to just make sure everything works, so have not had a chance to feel it out yet but first impressions are 100% positive. The color is twice as badass in person as it is in photos. Slim Taper neck feels fast. Finish and fretwork are flawless. As they have been doing lately the action is way too low from the factory - it does not fret out at all but I need to raise it up and get a set of 9's on it before I can evaluate. Will report back when I get to use it in anger, maybe tomorrow (busy with work today).

Interesting that mine came with amber tophats and switch tip instead of the gold reflectors and white tip shown on the website. I think I prefer the look though, so they stay!

That was quick... lot quicker than other gibsons posted here. Definitely a great alternative way to "go green"!! Congrats, gball!

A little surprised actually. Took exactly one week from Nashville to San Diego, and that's with a major holiday thrown in.

I admit, a big part of my buying this one was the unique color. But I am very pleasantly surprised here also - the color is much, much cooler in person than it photographs. It's a really gorgeous guitar. Definitely more of a gloss olive drab than the avocado color I remember as a kid.

I only had it plugged in for about a minute, just to confirm all the controls worked as advertised before I threw the shipping box out. The pickups are hot and have a lot of snarl. I had these in an SG before and really liked them but here in the LP they seem much more aggressive sounding. The phase switching option is really cool.

That looks fantastic!! I love my Classic which is a bit different here. Snarly and chunky. I do not care for the out of phase sound but love that direct out.
What a super cool color. Enjoy him!

Not sure if I will have any use for the phase thing long-term, but it was doing some cool Page-esque things for the few seconds I messed around with it. But the pickups for sure have some serious balls to them.

The color is sublime. I can't help but feel this could be a good seller for them if anyone knew that it existed but you can only buy them direct and they are not even easy to find on the website.

I really don't know, haha. All I have managed to do so far is pull the dumb plastic off the pickguard, raise the action and put a set of 9's on it. The roughly 1 minute I had it plugged into an amp and the 1 minute messing around tuning it up after the string change led me to believe its going to be great, but I always need to spend some time with a new guitar getting it dialed in before I know for sure how good it is. All I know is it has "something" the others don't since the pickups are much hotter than any of my others, so we'll see where that takes things but I suspect this one and my Custom are going to be reserved for heavier stuff.

Got to spend about an hour with it today. I can tell the pickups and bridge height are going to take me a while to dial in perfectly, might need to give a small twist to the truss rod too. It usually takes me 15-20 hours to play-in a new guitar, before all the little adjustments are made and the frets have worn just enough to feel familiar. Unfortunately, when I went to pick up some more strings, as I was out, they were out of the Boomers that I use. I bought Ernie Balls instead, figuring they would be an OK substitute, and I hate them, they are reminding me why I started using GHS. I won't know what this guitar can actually do until I can pick up some Boomers and get it set up right with those on it.

I like the neck. Its thin but rounded, not like the SlimTapers on SGs that are flat.
I really like the switching options. The coil splits are much more useful than expected and I am actually a fan of the phase shift thing.
Its a good weight - not too heavy or light.

I feel you on getting some strings you don't like. I bought a set once that were so bad, I took them off in a couple of days and just trashed them.

I've never used a coil split much, but I like it on my new PRS. I wish I had the phase shift option. I love that sound!

I'm also finding I like a flat fretboard more than I thought. The PRS is 10" radius, and I don't think I'll ever play anything much smaller again.
My Schecter has a 12-16" compound radius and I really like it a lot.

Congrats again on a superb looking LP!
