you do know the amps have tone controls yes?
Yup...but it‘s pretty inconvenient to have to go tweak your amp whenever you want to adjust the tone!
Hmmmmmm....once you soundcheck, you should be good...
I used to sit and listen to playbacks of different tone caps or strings...and spend hours trying to dial in some magical tone.
Then i realized i spent way more time fiddling around than playing, so i just dropped that practice cold turkey...
Absolutely not!Would you be comfortable with a guitar without a tone control?
not really I just reach over and adjust it.........its a small venue ..............and the audience is fool of dogsYup...but it‘s pretty inconvenient to have to go tweak your amp whenever you want to adjust the tone!
Sure. I don’t mess with the amp. But, I do make on-the-fly tone and guitar volume adjustments from time to time.
I don’t set it and forget it with my guitar!
Watch videos of Ted Nugent or Stevie Ray Vaughan. You’ll see they do much the same thing as they feel appropriate.
I don’t try to mimic them by any means, but, for me and what I do, different passages often call for a bit of adjustment. It is interesting for me to see other players taking a similar approach.
I can certainly envision set lists, styles, and circumstances that allow a more settled approach. But, that’s the beauty of music and individuality. We don’t all have to be the same!
Watch Angus....just play WFO
Lots of good points, and we seem to play and hear differently, surprise, surprise...
It's obviously a complete distraction, and I'd be better off practicing.

On its face, that’s a true statement, but I always think there is value in learning. Making some mods helps you learn. Sure there is a balance to be struck, but is it a distraction or an opportunity to learn?
