Top 10 Rush songs According to Singersroom! I shake my head in disgust.

Some are right.
My list would be quite different. The songs from albums that to are not worthy.
That is not a disrespect to Rush but their early albums were so good they can't be topped.
I have go with.
1. Temples but tthe entire side is one song. 2112
2. Caress of Steel / The Necromancer
3. YYZ
4. Red Barchetta
5. Bytor and the Snow Dog
6. LA Villa Strangiato/ actually maybe should be number one or 2

Limelight, Spirit of the Radio , Subdivisions. Tom Sawyer!
CorrectoMundo! The others are ok, well some ( Roll The Bones is abysmal lol) but those 4 are legendary.

How in god's name they didn't throw tracks in like Anthem, Working Man, Bastille Day, Fly By Night, Xanadu, Closer to The Heart, By Tor and The Snowdog, A Passage to Bangkok, Twilight Zone, Any of the 2112 but namely Temples of Syrinx, Fountain of Lamneth, The Necromancer, Red Sector A, Red Barchetta, La Villa Strangiato, The Trees or Free Will is beyond me. ( And I left out a LOT of stuff here too but these being instantly recognizable songs)

Sounds like it was written by someone who only heard Rush from 1979 to about 1991 and literally NOTHING else

Good choices!

OH, FFS! That is unbelievable. This is the list of some neophyte that isn't particularly familiar with the band but thinks they're being "insightful" by listing deep tracks from less well-known albums, while ignoring several seminal albums in the bands history (A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Snakes & Arrows, Clockwork Angels, etc.)

Lists are basically meaningless and the opinion of an individual - my own top 10 Rush list would only have a single song from this list on it (Subdivisions) - but they didn't even give it a try here.

Okay, thinking about it, even if I just chose my one favorite song from each Rush album, that's 19 songs:

  • Take a Friend
  • By-Tor and the Snow Dog
  • The Necromancer
  • 2112
  • Cygnus X-1 Book1: The Voyage
  • La Villa Strangiato (An Exercise in Self-Indulgence)
  • Natural Science
  • Vital Signs
  • Subdivisions
  • Between the Wheels
  • Mystic Rhythms
  • Open Secrets
  • The Pass
  • Dreamline
  • Stick It Out
  • Totem
  • Peaceable Kingdom
  • The Way the Wind Blows
  • Headlong Flight

Now, to even attempt to get that list down to 10, and not barring the possibility that there may be more than one top 10 on the same album, it just seems like Sophie's F-ing Choice to even attempt a list for a band with a 40-year career, 19 albums and who covered so so much sonic ground over those years.

I really liked the earlier Rush
But not much for the after the 80’s Rush.
And I am not going to post a list.

Not saying that after 80 sucked.. it’s just I liked the older stuff better
I'm a late bloomer in regards to Rush. So to me... most of it's pretty good. A few dogs, but not many. They had their different eras. Flat out rock. Got into the synth music a bit more. Etc. Regardless what they played, loved their live music. Loved watching Peart on drums. Dude was an animal. Left us too soon!!

Anyone check out the solo albums by Geddy and Alex? I have both. Geddy’s is pretty good. Frankly, a bit Rush like. Alex’s is quite different. Need to listen a few more times before passing judgment.

Geddy - “My Favorite Headache”
Alex- “Envy Of None”

Not yet, I will have to give them a listen.
I know lists are generally bad.
I am just offended by that :poo:
As a life long fan. Not quite the super fan but close. There is a group of people that meet every year (Rush Geeks)

I have them both and love them both. Dirk's is more accessible but Lerxst's is more experimental.

IMHO, this song contains the greatest guitar solo in history (the first one - A Lerxst in Wonderland). It's everything: a masterclass in dynamics, pacing, phrasing, note selection. I learned more about playing electric guitar from that two minutes than from all the other minutes I ever heard combined.
