TONY IOMMI 'Monkey' 1964 SG Special Replica Guitar

I'm not that fond of these types of guitars - just so much money (You could buy a whole Mesa double stack, no triple stack, for that price... Does anybody know what the price is yet?

I wouldn't be surprised if Sysco's guess was right, but over $10k is just silly, imho - I don't even see why they should be collectable.

That reminds me.... I think I have a couple of original Leo Quan "Badass" bridges in one of my parts drawers. I'll need to look later. Maybe I just need to get a set of locking stubs for my Special.

IvanH suggested these Faber locking stubs, so I got some; along with the MojoAxe should do the job. The Badass should be an interesting go.

I went and played the Jr. and the Special and loved this bridge setup. I have the Lightning Bar on my Firebird I, which intonates incredibly well, but I think I like the simplicity of these (and I think I am going back to pull the trigger on the Special actually).

How can that bridge even get close to intonating properly?

Close enough for rock and roll, I guess. Since they were intended as "student" guitars when they were released I don't think they really cared as they probably didn't expect anyone to be playing above the 12th fret anyway. But, I was really a bit surprised at how well-intonated they are. Keep in mind, that bridge isn't just a stop bar with a couple of adjustment screws added at the back end - there seems to be a subtle twist in the apex of the arch across the top of them which no doubt was added to aid intonation.
