Yuuuuuuup...:

While Iommi is my absolute all-time number-one guitar god, I have no interest in a replica of his guitar TBH. That's a very personalized instrument to start with, then factor in paying an enormous premium for a guitar that comes with all those quirks, and beat-up to boot? Nah, will leave them for others.

Nice post, very respectful! :dood:

I agree with you.

I also think a guitar should have room to make it your own. Maybe features one would not be pleased with.
Now if one was sitting across from Mr. Iommi, and he let you play this original guitar, that would be priceless!

What do you think: More or less than the Clapton Firebird?
Well, Gibson supposedly made 100 of those at an MSRP of $8000. My thoughts are: Only 50 Monkey SG's = $16,000... but, only 25 are right handed and 25 are lefties! Therefore, my very scientifically advanced calculating brain sez: $32,000. BUT THEN... I find this in the description: "Each Tony Iommi "Monkey" 1964 SG Special Replica will include an exclusive replica of Tony's silver cross necklace with a coffin case, a replica of Tony's leather touring guitar strap and a 1960s replica case." Sh!t fire! That should make it $40,000... :dood:

IOMMI rocks -- however -- I dont want to sound like IOMMI - -

I dont want to SOUND like anyone other than ...well ME ----
HUGE market on replicas -- amps-- pedals-- guitars-- talk about snake oil
Im going to bet you 1.00 that if you had me and IOMMI in a room gave HIM a 120.00 base model EPIPHONE SG bolt neck CHina made Et ALL-- and ME his ACTUAL MONKEY GUITAR not even a replica------playing through his stage rig----
HE would sound like him --- and I WOULD SOUND LIKE poop

At least the Monkey SG has got by the looks of it a Leo Quan Badass on it.Old Boy has that hidous Schaller tailpiece on it.

That reminds me.... I think I have a couple of original Leo Quan "Badass" bridges in one of my parts drawers. I'll need to look later. Maybe I just need to get a set of locking stubs for my Special.
