We were fortunate. Started dating in ‘74. Got married in ‘78. Still putting up with each other. Yes. We had some differences in child rearing, but for the most part we showed them a united front. We also did date nights while they were growing up. Nice thing about two sets of grandparents and our siblings living in the same town. Baby sitters. The date nights helped keep us in touch with each other so when the last (of two) headed to college we never really had that “holy crap..... what do we do now” empty nest syndrome.
We didn’t have a lot of cash in the early years so it was fruitless to argue over something we didn’t have.
Has it always been easy? Of course not. Anyone tells you otherwise is either lying to you or themselves.
And I wouldn’t change anything. We’ve had a good life. Sounds like many of you have too.
