To What Are Yee Listenin' Right Now?

Since I posted my pics of the SG I was going to buy, I posted my NGD thread. Now, I have successfully broken it in with some good old Oye Como Va, Santana. It does the song nicely.

My favorite track from my favorite Pink Floyd album. Pink Floyd was my first love in music. My best friend's brother was about ten years older than us, and he was a fan of Floyd. He turned my friend on to them, and at age 7 he had all their albums. We didn't understand the words, but the sounds were utterly fascinating to a little kid. My friend gave me "the Wall" on cassette when I was in first grade, and that was the first music I ever owned. We used to study the covers of their albums for hours and hours. The coolest picture being the back of "Ummagumma". We were in awe of the amount of equipment in the picture. Looking back it isn't very impressive, but it is still REALLY cool.

Awesome pics and story, Gahr. I can still remember the first time I saw a Dark Side of the Moon album. Similar story to you, I was likely, 13-14 years old when I was next door at a buddy's apartment. His older sisters had a number of records and DSOTM just happened to be the one that grabbed us.

I had heard it was good, so we put it on the turntable and it was way different than what I was expecting. If I recall, it was that awesome background singer's amazing voice that stood out for me. After that, it had to be the vast array of the sonic pallet that Pink Floyd put forth in this killer album. I think Time is the song that gets imprinted in my mind at the time I hear my first Floyd.

"Animals" is the album I've listened the least to. Not because I don't like it, but simply because it was the last one I bought. Some great moments on that one.

We used to play "The Gold is in the" from "Obscured by Clouds" with one of my old bands. My best buddy, The one that turned me on to Pink Floyd, was the singer. I still dig the tune, Pink Floyd at their most rock 'n' roll!
