Great club song....This guitar is no joke!!!!

While the drumming is not exactly super difficult, the drummer is a monster technical player too, Robert.
And yes that is some seriously good guitar playing on this tune.

Rod Morgenstein

Rod Morgenstein is a professor in the Percussion Department at Berklee College of Music. He is a founding member of the groundbreaking progressive rock fusion group the Dixie Dregs, who have received six Grammy Award nominations. The band, touted by the Philadelphia Inquirer as "possibly the most important, and certainly the most technically advanced, instrumental group in progressive fusion," continues to record and tour.

Morgenstein is an original member of the heavy metal band Winger, whose recordings have reached gold and platinum status around the world. The band received an American Music Award nomination for best new heavy metal band in 1989. Other projects have included recording and touring with Dixie Dregs/Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse in the Steve Morse Band; recording with Kip Winger, whose albums Thisconversationseemslikeadream, Songs from the Ocean Floor, and From the Moon to the Sun have achieved critical acclaim; and teaming with Dream Theater keyboard virtuoso Jordan Rudess in the Rudess Morgenstein Project.

Morgenstein was named best progressive rock drummer by Modern Drummer in 1999 and is a five-time winner of the Modern Drummer reader's poll for the same award. He has been a member of the magazine's advisory board since the 1980s.

As an international drum educator, Morgenstein has performed at hundreds of clinics and drum festivals in more than 20 countries. He codesigned the Vic Firth SIH1, dB22, and Kidphones isolation headphone monitors, in addition to codeveloping the Vic Firth Rod Morgenstein Signature drumsticks and Sabian Tri-Top ride cymbal. His instructional materials include the books Drum Set Warm-Ups and The Drumset Musician with Rick Mattingly; the videos Putting It All Together and Drum Tips/Double Bass Drumming; and the audio cassettes/books Grooving in Styles/Filling in the Holes, Double Bass Drumming, and Odd Time. Morgenstein holds a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami.

Good catch!!!

It's amazing how some of the best drummers can play so reserved. In 1979, when I was 14, my Mom's band borrowed drummer Bobby Gallardo from David Frizzell's band. This guy was an incredible drummer!!!!

I am thinking that lead player in Seventeen is Reb Beach. I am sure there are many kick butt guitar players like Beach who are not household names. Here is what I pulled up on Wiki:

Beach is best known for his work in the band Winger and for being a member of Whitesnake since 2002.

After graduating from Fox Chapel Area High School and attending Berklee College of Music in the early 1980s, he played in Fiona's backing band and became an accomplished studio musician, working with the likes of Howard Jones, Chaka Khan, The Bee Gees, Twisted Sister, and Roger Daltrey, among others, showcasing Beach's ability to adapt to various musical styles.

While working with Fiona, he was introduced to Kip Winger who was touring with Alice Cooper at the time. Eventually they formed the band Sahara along with Rod Morgenstein and Paul Taylor, which was later renamed to Winger.

Winger recorded and toured in support of three albums, Winger (1988), In the Heart of the Young (1990) and Pull (1993). The band also released a number of hit singles, including "Seventeen", "Madalaine", "Headed for a Heartbreak" and "Miles Away".

After Winger disbanded in the mid 1990s, Beach first joined Alice Cooper's band and later replaced George Lynch in the heavy metal band Dokken. With Dokken he recorded one studio album titled Erase The Slate and a live DVD titled Live From The Sun.

He was also involved with Sega, as he recorded the soundtrack for the video game Daytona USA 2.

Since leaving Dokken, Beach has been a part of several different recording and touring projects. In addition to sporadic touring with Winger, he released a solo effort entitled Masquerade in 2002. Since 2002, he has been a member of David Coverdale's current incarnation of Whitesnake and has been the longest-serving guitarist/member of the band to this day, excluding Coverdale.

A "supergroup" project called The Mob with King's X frontman Doug Pinnick and Night Ranger drummer Kelly Keagy, resulted in a single self-titled album, released in 2005.

A reformed Winger released their first studio recording in over a decade, IV in 2006.

He replaced Jeff Watson in Night Ranger for a series of dates in Japan and the US, but announced his departure in January 2008.

He currently splits his time between Winger and Whitesnake, recording Better Days Comin' in 2014 with the former band, and The Purple Album with the latter in 2015. He continues to tour with both acts.

According to band mate Kip Winger, Reb is quite adept at coming up with multiple rock riffs at a time, though he is often unable to remember them later.[1]

Ibanez guitars produced his signature RBM models (stands for Reb Beach Model) in the early 1990s. On the 2005 Whitesnake reunion tour, he primarily used custom models by luthier Suhr Guitars.

Not so good a catch Robert if you have the personal experiences that brought me in touch with the man himself, like those musicians you have met and associated with as well.

Way back in 2000 I was a mere 36 and took a seat at the church drum kit as I was taking a break from hanging sheetrock.
I decided to buy a kit after having fun that day. Flash forward as I awaited delivery of my kit to the store, my friend who worked in the department told me about a free clinic and concert that not only Rod was putting on, but also Mike Portnoy. I did not make the clinic, but I did make the FREE concert in a small club. Rod and the Dixie Dregs opened up and Dream Theater finished the evening.
2 major monster drummers and bands for FREE was like hitting the gold mine.
