To What Are Yee Listenin' Right Now?

Neil Peart was the man for sure. Been reading some of the books he’s written. He was so serious about his craft that pretty much up to the end he was still working with a teacher to help him hone and fine tune his playing.

iblive, Neil sure was something.

In the video where it is supposed to be him live from Subdivisions and the youtuber puts a comment that the live vid cuts out while the album version fills in. He says that is the point here. Neil is ON to the nano second.

I have extensively listened to Rush and watched their videos on YT now that it is a thing. The thing that amazes me is if one takes 5 clips of the same song by them done live throughout a multi year or even multi decade span, the pace of the songs, certain breaks, leads, rhythms will all be synchronized to the second.

Just amazingly consistent.

and NOW for the song that contains some of my favorite BASS lines ever played. Geddy, you sure could capture tone and 'tude.

And a version played by a mortal human.

Today we played a bit with this tune in the acoustic trio. I had the idea of playing double stops in the bass line - fundamental and 5th below, strictly falling until the end phrase. Accordion and sax interchange with playing melody and solos. Will develop.

This tune is NOT medieval, it is from 1953. But the bridge is real - although You usually will not dance across it. Historically the bridge is documented since the year 1222.

And a decent inspiration to Jazzers:

Welcome back BFT. Good to see you, brother.
Sorry to hear of your recent struggles. Picturing the shoes you have been walking in and if the news was accurate, my sympathies go out to you bro.

I know the words in this song and all the ways you gave of your heart and efforts to make the healing after wreckage caused irreparable damage, were the best you possibly could give. I will say, from what I know of you, you do deserve better and a brighter future ahead.

The song is definitely well done. I'm sad, that it also makes your heart sad, bro.
