For a while, they were being sold through Dean. Looks like he's on his own now. Starting price is still around $20K, going up to around $35K.

Thats absolutely crazy. I mean if you REALLY loved the guitar or was the richest Roth fan boy alive, go for it. But i could buy a few incredible total rigs for that lol.

I was looking closer at them and see the pickup thing now: theres a humbucker tucked under the 24th fret at an angle and then a single coil down around the 30th fret where the board is half the width. Kind of a strange setup really. Even with the active electronics, from a physics standpoint it would seem that having a piece of wood over the pickups would choke them but what do i know? Lol

Most of them get sold in Japan. From a harmonic standpoint, they make perfect sense. The pole pieces on a Les Paul neck pickup (Both P-90 and humbucker) are at the 24th fret. That's what gives that pickup a lot of it's sustain, and why Les Paul did not like the SG. He said "they moved the pickup." The thirtieth fret also must have some sort of harmonic advantage, or Uli would have put it somewhere else. Quite a bit of obsession went into the design, and redesign of the Sky Guitar over the years. Dean did offer a version that was closer to $10K, but now that there is no longer some sort of mutual business partnership between the two, you'd have to hunt on ebay.japan or someplace else.
 
I have to say Some Girls is and was my favorite Stones albums growing up. From start to finish, it had that IT factor. I mean Puerto Rican girls who are just dyin to meet me. Count me in!!! After this my sis and I got Hot Rocks. Cut my teeth on all the classics.
