To What Are Yee Listenin' Right Now?

This one may not be Robert's cup of tea, but if ever there was a song made for the Stereo or better yet headphones it is this masterpiece. Check out the sick licks. This song is almost an instrumental with a few batches of lyrics thrown in once in awhile.

PS. I am in some people's camp when it comes to Geddy Lee's voice.
The high shrill edgy style of his youth is my preferred time period.
Once his voice got lower and almost where he was off key was indeed hard for me to hear as Rush came towards their end.

I think the whole Caress of Steel album is more or less reserved for Rush freaks. The casual listener generally just makes a face when you put it on, but once that album gets under your skin there is no getting it out. Freaking amazing record.

gball, NOW I am not that deep to be called a Rush freak, but I know awesome musicians when I hear them. I would also have to say, the height of Rush freakdom in my case is the RUSH album.
It is my favorite and once again, every track is my favorite track. I mean this album puts me in the mood to freakin Rock n ROLLLLL. They actually Grooove with Rutsey on drums playing straight ahead power trio tunes like What You're Doing and don't beat around the bush. Listen to Geddy's driving bass line and Alex's searing guitar. Plus who can forget the timeless anthem known as Working man?

My first recollection of RUSH was much like my curiosity for Van Halen when I first heard them. I was hooked like a drug addict gets after a hit of crack.
Just around the age of 13-14 in 8th grade I was exposed to VH1 album. Something about that Siren like intro and Michael Anthony's thump and that chimey headstock string strum on Runnin with the Devil had me hook line and sinker. When I was younger I knew the Elton John, Beatles, Tom Jones, Queen, Steely Dan, Brownsville Station and even Deep Purple thanks to Smoke on the Water. Then around 8th grade, suddenly I heard about groups like Nugent, Alice Cooper, Floyd, Styx, The Who, Zep, Stones etc. But it was when I started hearing friends talk about cool concerts they saw from groups like Rush and Def Leppard that got me to seek albums by those groups. The rest of the story has me in the record shop with maybe 4-6 RUSH albums to choose from and What do I take home as my first choice? 2112.

Not ever hearing a Rush song prior to buying that album, I could not help be be in for the surprise of my life when I dropped the needle on the lead in to 2112 Overture. I almost remember saying to myself, " what have I done?" But somehow I let it play and play and play until I flipped to Side 2 and got to the end. Needless to say, Rush gave me a RUSH!!!!
I think I wanted more albums after that and saw an older neighbor boy who had a triple album set in his collection. I decided that one would be next. I can still see that steel gray album sleeve of Archives. Rush, Fly By Night and Caress of Steel all for one money.

Not to bore you all, but next came All the World's a Stage, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. Saw all the concerts for them and a few others on up until Signals. That had 3 friends and me on a Z28 Road trip from Baltimore to Syracuse NY to see them with Jon Butcher Axis opening up for them.

I totally agree. Give me the "Circumstances" Geddy any day! There were still some moments of magic in his singing toward the end though:

Speaking of the "Circumstances" Geddy. I really dig the "Anthem" Geddy and feel like his singing hit it's height in this range too. Notice the pun there on range.

Speaking of Height of range,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I also loved Alex's sound most when he was playing his ES 335-355 guitars thru Marshalls the best.

I sure like Gary Moore a lot. He plays with such great feeling and is one of my favourite guitarists. He sure has had quite a long career. I own a concert DVD that celebrates the Stratocaster's 50th anniversary where Gary was one of the guests. He sure plays Jimi Hendrix's "Red House" like there is no tomorrow! He just goes on stage and starts ripping it.
