So. Cued this up. I read Steve Miller and the opening notes has me thinking “All Right Now” by Free/Bad Company. Went back and forth between the two songs. The opening bars are very similar. At least to my ears.

Well it is coincidence. My wife and I had been talking about old tunes and I remembered this song. After searching I found the movie and watched it last night.
Even though Hollywood never gets anything right and I didn't recognize one actor in it.

It did make think. 1941 , my dad was on a merchant Navy ship the same year and for all I know possibly during that time.

Been a very long time since I've seen the movie. But agree. When those movies were made Hollywood took some creative liberties for sure. My wife hates watching the Midway movie from 1976 with Henry Fonda, Glenn Ford, Robert Mitchum, Cliff Robertson, Charlton Heston in it. I point out things like, "that's not a Japanese Aircraft Carrier, the island is all wrong.... or that's not a WW2 US carrier. WW2 carriers had straight decks not angled. That kind of stuff.

My Dad missed all that. Born in 32 he wasn't old enough for WW2. He was old enough for Korea, which both he and his best friend volunteered for. His friend went to Korea my dad served in Berlin.

An aside...... As a kid I built model airplanes and ships. Moving on to cars as I moved into my teenage years. Yes.... I had a model of the Bismark. It met the same fate as the original, only with my BB gun. It was epic.
