To What Are Yee Listenin' Right Now?

We need a mandatory, " why" for any thumb's down reactions so original poster knows why.

There's not always a "why" to it. Some music just doesn't jell with some people. The ones I've thumed down recently are just to much thrash and not enough substance for me.

I like music that is pleasing and that doesn't do it for me. I also like songs that have words, meaning, and tell a story. I like smooth jazz, but jazz fusion is just to jumbled for me. I can't enjoy it.

That's perfect. Sometimes if we get a thumb's up, or Love or Smiley, it is easy to tell what we all might like about something. A song, a guitar, an effect, a band, etc.

But when one posts a thumb's down and no explanation, it is hard to tell what is the not so good about something if one does not add any detail.

well..............Im with ya Sp8ctre -----I was GOING to try and be -- well argumentative-- (counter point-ish) but.....
Gia G for instance--- uhm ...........cramming as many notes as possible into a measure -- or bar -- or WTF ever the theory folks call it --- is --- annoying-- yes Dear you can play fast "yeah" -- so can Yngwie -- "yeah" -- so can classical flamenko and several other GENRES -- that doesnt make it ENJOYABLE to listen to.

whoever invented that "raking" thing for speed metal needs shot -- IMHO it RUINED the "creative" solo every one just RAKES --- come on BB King can play 4 notes in a 30 second solo and it sounds AMAZING --

there is no FEEL to the speed rake

Me, I think if you wanna thumbs up, thumbs down, sideways thumb it or Three Alien Thumbs Up it - go for it - that's the whole point in having them. It's music, man - know what I mean. Me, I actually prefer instrumentals more than songs with words, but that's me (well, I do like scat, bing crosby, so maybe I don't even know what I like - lol) - ain't like there's any real correct or incorrect in it - know, what I mean ;)

insert speed rake here............................pause...........speed rake............ and CHUG CHUG CHUG ---- speed rake ---

Look I wrote a song ............................

no

that said -- -I can APPRECIATE the skill and technique and practice that went into it -- I cant speed rake (dont want to) but --- I can APPRECIATE the work ---I dont have to listen to it-- but I can appreciate and commend those who do --
YEah Gia
YEah Yngwie
yeah ....every....new metal rock lead guitarist.........ever.....
(Wheres CC Deville, Mick Mars, Adrian Smith or Ace Frehley when ya need them!?!?!?!)
ugh

As Adrian said, and Drumoid Sp8 etc, not all styles appeal to everyone. I imagine when Black Sabbath came out, it really shook up the hippy folk music camp and likewise, when disco was a rage, many rock acts lost listeners, then came Punk, Hair Metal, Grunge etc. Just like not all amps, instruments, food etc. As forum members, it is nice to know why and not that we offended someone or something.

Now that Sp8 explained his view on some forms or metal music, I can understand why his reaction to some and not others.
I am just glad we have choices in so many areas. What a boring world if everything was cookie cutter.

This is why I love it here. We can all have our opinions without insulting each other! Of course we are not all going to like everything that one another posts. But the thumbs down
was to give people insight to what I like and don't like and not to insult what they like. I do it so the brothers here can know me a little better!
