Three Day Weekend and...

I wonder if Sp8ctre is high atop a transmission tower right now?

Well Happy Memorial Day for those of you that get the day off today! My phone started ringing at 5:30 AM with a client unable to login. No big deal, just a simple password reset and all will be fine. This is perhaps our largest client with over 180 locations that are all open today. All open, running sales that require them to connect to our server... which is down. My phone is blowing up! Time to go to work now.

Better to have A JOB at all, and one that if I am not mistaken is way better than the last place you worked at. Am I accurate on both statements?

100% correct Chili. I am glad to have a job, not just a job, but a great job. I have a much better sense of self-worth now. I get the respect and recognition now that I did not get at my previous employer. Although it sucked getting woken up at 5:30 am this morning, I feel proud that I have been entrusted to keep these billion dollar companies online and operational. The company that I work for provides software and server space for auto dealerships. This weekend is a big sales event with dealerships nationwide advertising on TV and radio. Chances are that the commercial you see/hear is one of our clients. My job is to ensure that they are able to connect to our server/database and make their sale. Anything that prevents them from making a sale, be it logging into the software, printing a contract, even setting up a new computer remotely falls in my lap.

DonO, she lives near Arbutus in Halethorpe near Patapsco State Park. Thanks for your thoughts. Glad her son was on the West Coast, and 2 daughters were off the roads in either Anne Arundel or Harford counties.

Thought of these just now, they in the loft area where I'm finishing up the Hadean mods. Bought them in a shop on Main Street Ellicott City (right where its flooding) in 2006. They are called...................Rain Sticks. They've got some beads or something inside and when you tilt them, they sound like rain. Pretty cool actually.

I have heard of those stix. Don, The first videos my girlfriend showed me were unreal the more I looked closely at the paths of the water.
The part I found killer was how the water seemed to pour out from inside all the buildings and into the street area to wash away everything in it's path.
As I am sure you are aware, the huge hills behind the buildings just funnel everything that overflowed the upper banks into the concentrated bowl of the town and on down the grade to the river at the low end.

That department store might be where we bought the rain sticks. I remember it was on that side of the street.

Here are some shots of how the town looked after the flood in 2016. I was surprised anyone decided to return. I sure would not have if I were a business owner there.

I've watched that flood on T.V earlier and couldn't believe the amount of water that was there...it was washing the cars away like crazy. You can always move up here chili where it's more dry and you don't have to worry about your equipment getting wet if you know what I mean.

amazing -- the power of mother nature---- the ultimate "engineer" --- I laughed openly while watching a recent show about "earthquake proof" building design......huge sky scrapers -- made to flex and sitting on GIANT "rollers" that can move 2-3 FEET in either direction (the engineer seemed very proud of that fact) ----I laughed because -- did anyone send the EARTHQUAKE the MEMO about the 3 foot tolerance????
WHat happens "MR Engineer" when the Earth moves 4 or 6 or 8 feet----- or 20 FEET----hhhmmm??? OR perhaps the entire area under the building just collapses away into a gaping hole??
.......yes-- I often laugh at the folly of man assuming He can tame the raging Earth......"We have "engineered an EARTHQUAKE PROOF SKY SCRAPER" ---yep and they made an unsinkable ship too--- howd "karma" fix that one?????? (I am amused easily) ---

Very sorry for the folks there ---what a horrible issue to deal with--

I am assuming many returned (possibly) for lucrative insurance and Govt./FEMA rebuilding/aid packages???

I have not heard--- I hope no loss of life in these floods CHili??
