THR10 Recording Question...

...How do you do it?

I've never recorded a guitar. :alien:

I've a Yamaha THR10. It's connected to my MacMini via USB-to-USB. Garage Band comes on the Mac. I don't have any recording suite with the THR10 (it came with some stuff, but I lost it years ago).

I did download a driver so that my MacMini sees the THR10 as a soundsource (and, I use it as my primary sound output for the MacMini because it's a decent little desktop speaker solution).

In simple words, for a simpleton: how would you go about recording in this situation. Basic stuff, please. Just starter level ideas.

You're 80% of the way there already. I can't tell you the exact steps in Garageband, since it's been years since I used it. Your THR is already working as a soundcard, so the drivers are properly installed, all you really need to do now is go into the settings menu in GB and select the THR as audio source.

There are two output channels from the THR and GB will show it looking something like this: "Yamaha Steinberg USB 1/2".

Select it as your input device (you only have to do this once), hit record and wail away.

Excellent - sounds very promising. I shall go at it. Thank you.

Thank you, Gents.

My plan for tomorrow: try to record on Garage Band. Play around with Garage Band. Download a free easy version of Audacity and have a go on that. :)
I'd suggest getting Reaper instead of Audacity (or both). Reaper is IMO easier to use and far more powerful. It's also easier for me to assist you on Reaper. @Beagle knows a lot about Reaper too and also some Audacity I think.

Reaper does cost $60 but is free to evaluate and there's no time limit (other than a written one) on the evaluation period. I evaluated it and compared it to other DAW's for a year before I bought it.
