This Tele has backbone

I think the audible difference is pretty obvious.

The “after” is a little more rounded and less twangy than the “before”. His playing does seem to be a little different after the mod, but those are the sound impressions I got.

Of course, we’re trusting there wasn’t some other manipulation going on. But, this is one of the few before/after mods that seemed to make any audible difference after going through YouTube.

Of course, I’ve been doing a LOT of tweaking on my Stratocaster lately, so maybe I’m just a little more sensitive to twang and quack now!

What do you all think if this?

I gotta respond honestly....I doubt anything they are saying is true.

I built set neck Tele's that sustain as well as a bolt on neck Tele. No difference.

Like the String Butler....or locking tuners....I have 3 guitars with Green Keys and I took locking tuners off the Les Paul and went back to Green Keys with no change in tuning stability.

This industry is designed to take your money....every new gadget and doo dad is designed and marketed for that purpose.

IMHO....

....

What did you think of the difference in sound, though?

Usually with these YouTube before/after mod demos, I really don’t hear any difference. So, I was fairly skeptical here, too.

But, I did hear a before and after difference with this one. Now, as I said, we are trusting there is no additional manipulation, and his playing dynamics may have affected things, too.

Not a huge difference to me and the only way I would make any informed decision is hearing it live. I have
found very few sound test that are reliable through your PC no matter how good your speakers and I'm using
a Komplete Audio interface with Presonus Studio Monitors...

Well, as I said, I really wasn’t expecting a difference because so often weird mods just don’t produce any meaningful difference at all.

But, when he played the “after mod” segment I was a little surprised that I did hear a difference. I can only really describe it as a little more rounded, less twangy...

Of course, he also seemed to change his playing dynamics a bit, too.

fat head lol ---

I hear not much difference ---there is "A" difference but not enough for all the Hullabaloo...strings....compression/ pedals...amp setting can all achieve similar results.....
sounds to me like he LOST some Tele QUACK and gained some Lesterish sustain..... again ----a different pup-- or wood or-- eh ....

seems like a answer to a question no one asked.....

I mean Teles sound like teles --- you want lester tones and sustain --- its the PERFECT EXCUSE TO BUY A LESTER-----
you aint marrying the guitar -- -you can HAVE MORE THAN ONE :)

Or you can get a T-60 Peavey --- and a Gibson Les Paul recording and get ALL THE TONES KNOWN TO MAN in 2 guitars........(Dont tell Shannon though -- I still NEED the others.......for --- balance yeah thats it ...........)

I promise I'll watch the demo video later, but I've seen this contraption advertised in a couple guitar magazines already. Personally, just the looks of the Backbone told me to move on. A Tele is a Tele and should remain Tele-like. I'm sure that the Backbone will change the construction of the Tele's physics to have a different response. Why do this? Maybe your Tele was not built well enough? Or maybe... you're just not into the Tele vibe! To each his/her own... :osnap:

Now, you would never see me at one of these shows, but here's an example of why none of these gimmicks make any difference when you are playing in a band..
