This is Why I'm So Happy This Forum Was Created...

I am still a member of ETSG, but never visit MLP. Not a Les Paul guy.

Col, I go to MLP once in awhile as it is not necessarily all LP's but there are also some good posts about gear and other tech stuff over there from decent meaning folks as well.

I guess, I will scour for info no matter where it is posted, except for certain Media sources/agendas.

Look, I added a little class to the thread at MLP and did not get run outta dodge or castrated,
Check out my Bill Lawrence Pupped SG and my Faded all snuggly be their sides. Also, Mrfett did a nice demonstration and discussion of the HB-L and HB-R circuit board pups like are in my 1st SG. Give it a listen

well and so... I read all of this thread, and liked some of the responses.

Personally, I prefer a zero tolerance policy toward fake brand name guitars, BUT
I have a lot of sympathy for a victim of the scammers. That PeteR from MLP
and/or ETSG seems to be an Epi "expert," perhaps even employed by the company.
He's got flags waving...

So he WOULD have an axe to grind. I actually agreed with some of what he said,
but it seemed like he was speaking to the world, and not to the OP. I don't have any
power to push people around or ban them or lock down threads, and I don't want
any. I am still a member of ETSG, but never visit MLP. Not a Les Paul guy.

I don't have anything against replicas or tribute models or inexpensive models that are
no more and no less than they seem. As a matter of fact I would wish to be among
the first to welcome a new player with an Epi Les Paul Special ll or anything like that.

The difference I see is that a fake guitar is a criminal thing, made by criminals in order
to swindle the unwary or the innocent. Something like that pisses me off and I don't want
to discuss it. I wouldn't stay long on a forum that was willing to discuss it or welcome it.

An inexpensive entry level guitar can be a thing of beauty, beloved by the player long after
he/she has moved on to other instruments. Let's keep it that way. I believe in welcoming
the new and prospective members, and giving them encouragement and whatever info we
can.

Many times I'll comment on a thread, speaking not just to the OP but intending my remarks to be
helpful to lurkers etc who may be seeking the same answers that motivated the OP to begin
a thread. I believe this happens much more than any of us know.

So respect to all and encouragement to the newbs, and good wishes to all at the end of a
very trying year. Let's have no more fake guitars... wouldn't that be progress?

Fake guitars or luthier built replicas are not always made to cheat or swindle. If you have a guitar made to order for your
collection and playing enjoyment there is no intent to deceive another buyer.

The same goes with getting a Chibson online. You know exactly what you are buying. The Chinese are now advertising
them as "Chibson". I bought one to see the quality. It was great, so I ordered another with the logo removed from
the headstock and my custom logo instead. Is it a Fake? Should I be allowed to discuss it when it arrives?

Here is a guitar that is for sale on "Another" forum. This forum will not allow discussions of Chibson or any other "Fake" IMPORT
Guitar. However if it's made by a respected luthier it usually slides as long as the headstock is not posted.

The individual selling said guitar sent these to me by email. He is not allowed to post them in his ad, yet his ad remains...

I think we should be allowed to discuss all guitars. That is what I thought we were doing here. Allowing free discussion...

Not trying to stir things up just posting my opinion on the matter...

She sure didn't know how to dress...

But this girl did...and I lusted over her for decades...

The vocals in that video are definitely not Debbie Harry from Blondie. It's Chrissy Amphlett (R.I.P.) from an awesome Australian band of the 80s and 90s, Divinyls..

Caution: ORIGINAL '59 LP Jr. Double Cut content!

A young Debbi Harry is a hard hand to beat; wait this choice of words may lead to trouble.
And ya that Divinyls video always sticks out in my mind....

I was so busy looking at Debbie I didn't even notice!

I'm here because I'm easily distracted and confused at my age. I can't log in to the referenced site until the 17th some time, and have not been particularly nostalgic. I can't remember which mod banned me or why. I have come to the conclusion that some of them have reading comprehension issues. Coupled with no sense of humor or humility, they do seem like The Earps and Doc Holiday running Tombstone. The fact that they have lost the most interesting commenters to the kind of wholesale abuse dished out by mods and their pets has not seemed to dissuade them or the owner from such arbitrary exclusion. When someone asks a question on such a forum, they expect a diversity of opinions based on diverse experiences. It is a disservice to the member and the truth to exclude that diversity.

He seems to have a Pavlovian response to some issues and usually answers with,"Because I'm the expert."

What Bid says I am not even aware of and can hardly believe I am hearing about how such a positive influence as Mr Bid is was treated.
It looks like that place is more jacked up than I heard tales of.

Agreed! Every time I ask a honest question to a MOD I'm told it's so and so site and we'll do what we want. If you don't like it go elsewhere...so I did...

Only caught a ban at MLP. Just lost interest in ESG after the ads. Top & bottom static ads..... I can handle that. Interfering in "our" area... not cool.

Same owner...less mod BS at ESG...but I'm done lining someone I don't know pockets...

Granted. I'm playing Devil's Advocate (like usual) to a degree that's all. I can't say he got greedy, because I don't know the motivation....but it could have been handled FAR better than it was.
Funny thing is, I didn't know what the heck you all were talking about till I turned AdBlock off.
