This is sad news. McCabe's is closing.

Where is that? Sad news.

Santa Monica. They've been there since the sixties. They have always done private concerts with people like Roger McGuinn, Emmy Lou Harris, Townes Van Zandt, and many others to promote their luthier, repair, and retail business.

I wonder what Guitar shops will be like in the short term. Will people have concerns about handling the guitars one after another? Are shop owners going to have to wipe them down after anyone tries a guitar? And with what..bleach on nitro finishes?

That sucks about McCabes, man...

I went to guitar center the other day and some guy that literally looked like antifa was standing at the door and wouldn't let people in unless they wore a face masked - I just laughed (literally) and walked away. I've about had it with the covid-19 mask fascists myself. If someone wants to wear them, that's their business - but they have no right forcing it on the rest of us. Guitar Center can keep what ever they are selling - I'll go somewhere else... But, I guess that's another story - lol...

McCabe's closing is very indeed a sad moment for the musical community. I hope that the owners will be able to enjoy their retirement.

Funny, that I lived in the Santa Monica area for about 15 years in the 70s and 80s, and I never stepped foot into that great acoustic guitar store. This is a regret that'll haunt me forever!
