Think Gibson USA QC Has Improved...

On the page:

At Sweetwater, "Demo" usually means one of the following:
  • It spent some time on display in our store.
  • It was used in a sales training presentation.
  • It was returned by another customer who tried it out for a few days.

Thanks Ray, that clears things up a bit. The last one about a customer trying it a few days usually means it arrived into the customers hands with
issues or flaws from the factory. I know that is the only reason I have ever returned a guitar to Sweetwater or anywhere else. If I just don't like
the guitar I sell it elsewhere and don't force it back on the store...

for the RECORD-- Ive bought a crap ton of LOW end cheap gear-- online

WHEN YOU GET a 49.00 strat
48.jpg
you EXPECT "flaws" -- issues -- etc..
TBH it needed the fret ends filed/smoothed-- and a good set up -- but sounded and played GREAT after that and -- I smiled as did the guy who bought it from me (for 100.00 ) ;)
Im Sure Godin puts out stinker -- everyone does--
thought TBF the Squires---- Ive bought new -- NEVER came in with an issue-- I had to set them up to MY preference -- but YOU DO THAT WITH ANY GUITAR --

the COST of the Gibbo "implies" quality-- CRAFTSMANSHIP --heritage -- Tradition -- blah and blah...

IF YOU WANT A GOOD GIBSON GET A 70'S ERA NORLIN ONE THEY FOOGIN ROCK and -- they are MOSTLY cheaper than the NEW stuff !

problem solved :)

I think you are on to something. Maybe I should be having sex instead of debating guitar quality issues! I'll be back in 3 minutes!

Show off... Are you doing it twice with a shower and nail treatment inbetween???

Regarding Gibsons: they are good. But, you must go to the store and try them out, choose the one you like, don't buy online never having seen it - they are all different.

...not so much. These are from a $3000 Slash Anaconda Burst. Link to Sweetwater also included. The pictures on Sweetwater make it much more clear.

This one went back and now it's discounted. What a disappointment this must have been for the buyer.

Is that spot on the inlay in the first pic really supposed to be a flaw?

I guess I’m not quite the sniffer-of-cork that I portray myself as being!

I’d look at that as being kinda cool.

After all...it is MOP...which means “Mother-Of-Pearl”. IT’S A SHELL! Which means...it’s a dead mollusk.

Sheesh...if we’re gonna adorn our guitars with dead animals, the least we can do is be appreciative for the variety Mother Nature gives us!

If it was only a spot I would agree, but it's more of a hole from what I can see.

Let me give you all a little background why I posted this. I had just watched a new 6 Part Series on YouTube where they went through the factory.
They were doing their normal bragging about how great the guitars were and about the quality, craftsmanship and QC.

I then went looking to buy one and found this one and many more discounted due to flaws. Factory flaws not play wear from being on the
floor and such. It just disappointed me all over again...

Buy one of these, I played 2 of them well made no flaws, Made in Indonesia $549.00 good pickups. Also notice the wood all matches the same colour. Not like the guy in the videos Gibson he paid $ 3,700 for, plus other defects.

I'm really confused why some think Gibsons are so expensive? An American PRS costs as much as a Custom Shop Gibson. If it has a nice top it can be double. $2500 for a new Les Paul Standard is pretty good deal to me.
but isnt 800.00 for a Gibson Studio -- or Firebird studio for 700 ...........better?

Paul (REED SMITH) stuff is off the chart $ wise IMHO that guy lost my business years ago--

most Gibson - -and some fender stuff is also "off the hook" --- I mean COME ON
anything over about 7-800.00 is to much $ (yes I own a couple worth MORE than that -- BUT I DIDNT PAY THAT)

its wood strings and wiring (and solder --ugh) -- everyone here KNOWS the voodoo and whodo and what not that makes the MAGIC happen
we have all SEEN BEHIND THE CURTAIN -- the veil is off --lets admit it.

there is and should be a CEILING to the $$$$$$$ amount its "really" worth -----realistically --

but yet there are those who will PAY STUPID $$$ for things .................................
and to them I say

I have a $1,700.00 custom shop "GIBSON" Thunderbird Id like to sell you ;) ;)

no really.......and I have this SG that was used in many Recordings at Capital Records --- its worth well over 6 figures........bring cash -- -lets talk
:2Thumbs:
