1. Price, This is number one when i am looking
2. Looks or appearance of the guitar is important to me .
3. Then i search out the guitars in the store that fall within my price point.

4. Quality is high on my list, I want the best bang for my Dollar.
5. For me It does not matter where the guitar is made, China, Korea, build some good guitars. I once owned a B.C Rich and Fender Strat Affinity, that were both decently made in their price range.
6. I am not an expert by no means, but i am a tough critic for myself , i investigate guitar reviews etc.

7. The guitar must have a slim fast neck that is comfortable, not all necks are equal in the comfort range i have found.
8, Playability overall , does it give me that feeling like i want to continue to play it.
9. Quality of hardware, Bridge, fretwork, pickups, tuning keys, fretboard, Controls, switches.

10. Weight of guitar, i don't like them heavy.
11. Balance is a big thing with me , no neck dive.
12. Nothing against guys who do mods, but i am not one of them, When i buy a guitar it must have the total package.
13. The guitar must be comfortable, if i stand or sit while playing, all my guitars have curve cutouts on the bodies a must for me.

14. I have access to be able to play and check out many many Brands of guitars where i live and in the surrounding area. I have and will continue to do so. As many of you know , i am a huge fan of Godin Guitars, You might ask why? Well i can honestly say for me, i have not yet, found another Brand out there that is as comfortable or plays or builds to the same quality for the money. That may change. But i give the Godin Family kudos for building affordable , well made guitars. And have a reputation for doing so for many years.

The thing that i found out after buying some other brand guitars is after playing them for one hour i came down with wrist and hand pain. And i am talking severe, the second guitar that i purchased was a B.C. Rich was one of them had to sell it off. Had no issues with Fender Affinity Strat which was my first guitar. So when i purchased my first serious guitar which was a Godin Session it was so sweet to play. Godin makes what they call ergo necks, now i have 4 of them and each one is comfortable to play, i practice 2 hours a day sometimes more and have had no issues with hand pain. For those who do or have had some issues with hand pain, try out a Godin .

The hardest guitar I have to play is probably the Tele honestly. And thats not a negative statement on the guitar or Teles in general: its more of a Gibson hangup lol i guess where Ive played them for so long and gotten used to Mahogany necks and rosewood/ebony fretboards, the Tele is a polar opposite beast being of maple neck and fretboard. Switching back and forth, it takes getting used to with that vs picking up the Explorer, SG or even the hollowbody clone

You just have to get a Tele with Rosewood fretboard Mike. :) You would look good with a Tele, you know you need one..

I will admit , there is ONE guitar I bought without ever actually playing it and that was the Explorer. I had see it when it debuted from Gibson, fell in love with it and only heard it at that time being used by Mick Jones of Foreigner and Phil Campbell of Motorhead playing a Translucent Amber version and Sammy Hagar playing a Translucent Red.

I called Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, told them i wanted a Translucent Black since no one had those anywhere and they literally walked down to the Nashville Plant and picked it out, set it up and shipped it to me.

High risk purchase but i had a great hunch that paid off lol

I wouldnt have a problem ordering on line honestly. The last guitar I purchased was a Washburn Acoustic Electric in 2006 , so ordering anything online or in person would feel alien to me now lol
