Thieves In Nice Neighborhoods:

I miss the days I could go to any hardware store or Home Depot to get a spare key made for a buck-sixty.
No dig at you @BFT Gibson: you sound like a fair minded businessman.
I was friendly with the full time locksmith in a hospital complex when I serviced the fire and security alarms there for over 10 years.
Learned a lot about keys, levels of masters, etc., as he entrusted me with my own set that got me most places.
I still look at the cuts in my keys to know what goes where.

I can still get $2.00 keys made my 2001 Cherokee, though I never lose them.
It only came with one key and remote (used), but the key is not chipped.
The wife has that one, for the convenience and the panic alarm.

And I dont chip the paint around the door lock in the dark.

My key is a plain old unlock the door, turn it in the ignition type deal.
Fine by me.

The 2016 Rogue we have is nice you can pop the rear deck with the remote.

I miss the days you could shoot these A-Holes and no one would say a word...

Putting in your own moat? :D
Nah, when we bought this place last year we knew we had to replace the 28 year old driveway that was cracking and sinking. That was the spot that was getting undermined by water, as there was no drain on this entire cement slab. They dug down until they hit solid rock and then recompacted the dirt.
We had a French drain installed in the new section we poured.

Here's what I want to do...

My goal is to keep them from doing damage. I want to find a way to make the truck 'touch sensitive (like the touch to turn on lights) so I can sound a horn when the truck is touched and hide the switch up under the rear bumper....

We got a camera system going up as well...

The problems we have here with cameras is these guys wear hoodies that are so big , you cant get a description of the person. They wear them weather its below zero or 90 degrees Fahrenheit .

I have no idea what in my post warrants such a harsh response....?

Maybe I meant to quote this post? Or none at all...just the way I feel.

Had to erase much of my post to avoid politics but it had to do with how some DA are picking and choosing which, or against whom certain offenses would be prosecuted or not.

There is a strong movement in some areas where property crimes are considered less and less of a "crime".
I work hard and long for a working-class paycheck.
Doesn't seem right it should be considered "ok" for someone to take it from me, and "not ok" for me to try to stop it by force if necessary.

You take great exception to me defending my property (there is a blurb regarding that in The Declaration, and the thread is about theft) yet suggest I should be shot for my belief?
Thats quite and intolerant view when you simply disagree with another's opinion.

Maybe I misunderstood.

Unless I'm missing an important piece here, I think that's exactly what happened here. I'm assuming that most of us, if not all of us here at TTR, are rightfully frustrated when we or someone we know is a victim of crime committed by those who have no respect and consideration for others.

You are not reading me right. I think it's a sad state when we can't protect our property and shoot THE THIEF...

Well,

My wife told me I have to get rid of one car. I've been driving YeloTruck for the past month or so, and I really do like the F250, despite it nets only 17mpg to the Mustang's 25mpg.

My wife was shocked when I told her I would get rid of the truck and keep the Mustang. I don't think that's the answer she wanted.

YeloTruck won't fit in our garage, so it has to stay outside, which got it broken into a few weeks ago.

A: How did I miss this thread?
B: Good call on the truck. I've been driving my 2000 Celica GTS for the last couple of months. Way more fun than the truck.
C: Thread title would be a great album title.
