Thieves In Nice Neighborhoods:

I always chained or cabled locked the ladders on the roof of my van.
Sure someone can cut it, but at least you make them work harder for it.
And, they steal sh :dancepoo: because they dont wanna work in the first place, so it was always a good deterrent.

OMG, I feel bad if my cars cost more than $200 let alone 20K for one.
I did splurge and bought a 93 Subaru once for $350 plus the guy wanted $40 for the gas he had just put in it. Fair enough for when gas was $4+ a gallon.

Here's what I want to do...

My goal is to keep them from doing damage. I want to find a way to make the truck 'touch sensitive (like the touch to turn on lights) so I can sound a horn when the truck is touched and hide the switch up under the rear bumper....

That can be done, you can even look at them from your phone anywhere in the world. Depends on what package and pieces you buy. Hell I got a 4 cam cheap set up from Amazon for $120 ...well I didn't, Dawn told me she ordered them & I need to install them :cautious: They are crystal clear but fixed. I install $2-$3000 cameras that are explosion proof on the rigs. A little overkill for houses :p

I understand the tactic there. Sadly for me, I had to let the govt/ law handle the perps who broke into my house. Worst part is they live 2 doors away. The middle 30';s yr old dad got a prison sentence of 10 years knocked down to 6.5, of which he served maybe 3. Now resides 2 doors away again. The then 15 year old son, who followed in daddy's footsteps a couple years later, got the old ankle bracelet and drug couseling slap on the wrist as a minor for a few months as he continued to live at Granny's in the same house 2 doors down.

All the while, all I wanted to do was resume a life of not worrying about burglaries or revenge. AND I could not shoot the damn bastards for what they had done.
 
I need to upgrade cameras and the crappy dvr I could never connect to on ethernet but I been lazy, I mean busy.
Lazy in pursuing the right product at the right $$$ and also busy.

When my ladders got stolen, I put out my own voodoo type wish,,,,,,,,, the damn bastard thieves would fall and get paralyzed permanently disabled for their actions.

As for my neighbor crooks, maybe a terminal overdose is the only solution. Then, I will be able to never have to worry about them tearing open the scar they left me with where every time I go back home, I worry about what else I will be missing.

Me too, but I use relays and existing components in the car to activate the switch. So in essence, if someone were to add a bosch style relay and put the NO connections interupting the ignition switch, and use the parking light wire to feed the relay, to start the car the parking lights would need to be on otherwise the starter would crank til the battery died, but the car would never start. No hidden kill switch to be found.
 
This just reminded me of my blunder. Used to drop 327 & 283's onto Chevy Vegas in the early 80's. Cheap & they were everywhere,,grab junkyard motor & tranny..link up the frames & put 12 bolt rears in. The power to weight ratio was killer from red light to red light wars.(have to link em or the body twists the windshield out & the body will stay corkscrewed from pwer)
Had a 4 speed in & blew out a gear, Got a turbo 350 auto all built up & dropped it in. Well go to start it...nothing..drove myself nuts for a week..finally tow it to a garage..guy gets in, pushes the clutch pedal in & starts the car..i forgot the nuetral safety switch was on the clutch pedal . All my gear head friends..we trouble shot that car over & over... had left the pedal in & fastened it instead of taking it out. Built in security.

Nice setup ! In my 70 El Camino I put a push button toggle switch at the bottom of the cigarette lighter. Get in, push the cigarette lighter once and start. When exiting, push the cigarette lighter to open the circuit between power and the coil.

For the longest time after driving a stick daily I would push at a missing clutch pedal in automatics.
