"The wrong note is just in the way of the good one..embrace it.. play through" going on my tombstone

Last night was working out a new song chord progression..hit a note not in the scale..but it made the song..chose to incorporate it & find out what the heck i did wrong that turned out so right

have no idea what it is but now am into the Locrian Scale

always used to tell the guys at band practice..play through..never stop & start you will never never get things done..play through..wait to turn around..come back in..us bass players & the drummers..we solid ! keep ya in check, lol

This is the reason I don't learn or pay attention to scales. They are too limiting, and one of the reasons all the music when we were young sounded essentially the same.

Sometimes I intentionally play something that "theory" says is wrong and build the whole progression around it for that dissonance.

You can't play all the right notes until you play the wrong notes and learn from that.
Making any mistake is normal because you are not a machine.
People all learn from making mistakes.
Even when you learned to walk, you fell down first.

A wrong note is like the difference between a cockroach and a palmetto bug - if it's in your house it's a cockroach, if it's in my house it's a palmetto bug - lol...

What do I mean?

If you your an unknown guitarist and play a wrong note you messed up.
If you your a well known star guitar player and hit a wrong note people wonder and ponder over the genius of using that off note at that specific time and place and how it... and it... and provides... and so on - lol...

Ok, maybe I didn't need a coffee shake and a cuban roast coffee to boot...
I'll stop typing now...

.

was joking actually , in the context of a chord progression was playing for the verse..no way a singer was goinng to sing over that note..but i extracted it to change to Locrian which incorporated an E major/minor mode into a minor pattern that glued down the word placement in the minor to sing over but allowed a modal change which in turn allowed the tension of a 2nd & third.which inturn can incorporate a harmonic minor back into it. Then a Major in then a major 7th to resolve. ringing out then caught quickly at end of the turn around..

12 notes to learn ..thats it..its how ya use em

need to word it better...notes are notes

hit a note while in a very definite chord progression that did not work for song... it prompted an idea tho..then figure out how to use it ...had a blast cause did try & figure out what was going on, then found Locrian..

going on my tombstone
"This too shall pass" is going on mine .......that and FTW ----

-- I love the study of scales and theories timings and deep analytical musical dissection/labeling, and controlling--- and then -- Howlin Wolfe, Muddy Waters, BB King (and many others) play a WRONG note ...on the WAY to the right note--- and are HAILED as genius and ORIGINAL ----
uhm.......no they played the wrong note-- but they "sold it" and did it with style and class.......and groove and rhythm...and so --- the public deems them GODZ .........

yes that what i meant..play through always..seems like an eternity to the player but its really just 1 strike.. that wrong note hit last night sent me to a great place that opened up something in the ability to write in new directions

might fit in the Firebird case & might not need a casket after all
