The Valkyrie Dean rebirth project

OK, so... these (not so) few days that the forum website was down I decided to dive deep into bringing that Dean V back to life once and for all... So I started by building myself a control cavity template and made the base wiring harness. You already have seen that from last night's post. Also rewired the IO jack

And then got ready to put the harness in place.

I tried to keep the harness as clean and economical as possible, considering that the cavity in itself is quite constrained which is why I had to "expand" the space in a couple of the corners by dremeling them, to fit in the 3-way switch and larger pots. That also pushed me in the direction of interconnecting the pots cases with bridging wire, from which I "hung" a ground terminal to connect to the cavities shielding.

After that, on to connect the pickups and the remaining grounding and I/O plug wires.

I know, I still have to work a lot on my overall soldering and wiring management skills and techniques, but I hope that will come with time, further mods and the wise guidance from my buddies at TTR! After all, this is my very first attempt at this kind of work... ever!

And this is how it ended up... Upgraded electronics and wiring, Dean Neck p/u @ 7.15 K, DiMarzio Tone Zone Bridge p/u @ 16k, full setup and playing awesome... If only I could play decently... Can't win em all!

Many Thanks to Rob VonHerndon, Don O., Yargnad, Syscokid, SG John, 67plexi, Thatbastarddon, Cadorman, Ninjaking, RVA, BFT, Hackmaster, Mitch, Ramo, Clockworkmike and each and every one else that escapes my mind right now, but from whom I totally drew from their support, experience, guidance and inspiration! No wonder I felt kinda homeless these past few days... Cheers!

So, now that the Valkyrie upgrade is done (see above pix)... time to move on to the next project at the crossroads:

Either go down the road of axe upgrade and reno again... or take a soldering-intensive detour and build one of two BYOC pedals that have been sitting gathering dust for a while now. I'm feeling drawn to either one... Dang my indecisiveness! Any suggestions will be well received and greatly appreciated, TTR brethren!
