The Slow Death of the Electric Guitar?

Just to clarify, the article wasn't talking about guitars, in general. It was talking specifically about electric guitars.

I think the guy is a racist --- he is just PROFILING electric guitar!

Notice he didnt say BASS was going away ---- he knows better ----- bass players will put a cap in dat ass.

fook I am a riot---how do you all live with myselves?

Why, there are other type of guitars?

Ha!

It seems there are! That same article points out that, beginning in 2010, acoustic guitars began to outsell electric. I believe it. A lot of today's music is less electric guitar centric, and utilizes more acoustic.

Personally, this shift doesn't bother me.

I actually played my Martin outside yesterday. It was glorious.

im guessing YOUR 8 year old is a little "ahead of the curve" in the G.A.S. department ;)

I waited years before I could have a Marshall, even longer before I could openly play rock n roll....I want him to be totally supported in his musical ventures. he asked for a Marshall and I gave him my '97 valvestate 2x12 combo.

Smitty, speaking of which, I made a once lowly HSS Starcaster by Fender Strat Shaped guitar, into a sweet sounding usable guitar with the addition of my new Tortoise shell Hum/HUM loaded pickguard. I took it and my Marshall JMP Head to my buddy's place.
Both AMP and Guitar sounded great

I fear that electronics v instruments may be an either/or proposition. So this makes the unfortunate point.

And while almost anyone can play an A chord, or other three chord delight, it is will then be necessary to have folks chose that over more complex and increasingly realistic electronic options.

Just one example...that first distorted chord in "A Tout Le Monde" just grabs me....nothing acoustical can reach me on that level.

I get what Robert is saying, but for me I can focus like this, but also open a window if the door needs to stay closed.

1 example is Alex Lifeson's mixing acoustic and electric like The Trees or In The End
