The pedal that changed your life !!

Kerry, I can't believe you had such a sweet 510. I was far too poor to afford to get mine in anything close to racing shape.

I have been talking to some fellas up in Alberta about their cars and acquiring another for me. Not sure but I also might have spoken to one fella from Coquitlam

Speaking of gas pedals and wrenching cars, here's a shot of me wrenching a '54 300SL that I restored.

Except for the people I worked for, that was a fun job. Got to do some cool things, and drive some really nice cars that I would have never had the opportunity otherwise.

John, The same thing went for me when I was a service writer for a Porsche Audi dealer back in 1987-88. I got to drive some pretty sweet 911's 944's 928's and got paid to do it. That Mercedes is seriously beautiful.

Thanks,

When I worked there I had to reverse engineer unavailable parts, and make them from billet. Such cars a '57 Ferrari 275 GTB, I had to make parts out of bronze billet, then sit down with a half dozen grades of sandpaper and a jeweler's hammer, and tap the sandpaper grain into the metal to replicate sand casting. One car, a '51 Ferrari Vigali Spyder could never win a show due to incorrect suspension parts. I copied the suspension off of a '49 or '50 Barcetta. The car won "Best of Show" at Cavalino, and made the front page of the Ferrari magazine as a result of my parts.

A couple of life changing pedals for me was one of my very first pedals back in '79 or '80. The BOSS DS-1 with all its glorious distortion that I was craving for at the time. About 15-ish years ago I had it modded by Keeley with their Ultra and Seeing Eye Mod. In retrospect, I should have kept the old DS-1 stock, and bought a new one (15 years ago), and had that one modded by Keeley instead. Those old DS-1's are worth a lot more money now... $200 to $300! And BTW, I don't think I've plugged into my old DS-1 for at least 10 years...

My second life changing pedal without a doubt, is my Rangemaster built by Don Butler back in '06. This pedal is a clone of the 1960s Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster. This type of the pedal is a nice solution to clean up the mud and add more gain when certain types of amps become too dark when they are naturally overdriven. If you notice on the following pics, there is an EQ toggle switch for treble frequency boost and for full frequency boost. I never did care for the full frequency boost tone from this pedal. So I changed the value of the cap relative to the full freq option, to more of a mid boost.

Sysco very kindly FIXED my TS-9 for me. Having heard my friend's as I mentioned in previous post, I wanted one. I bought mine used at Music Go Round and thought it was working right. I know they usually check pedals too. However Greg found a number of issues and returned to me a sweet and fully functional TS9 which I now know what it is supposed to sound like and how it works.

Pretty sure a Range master might be another eye opening pedal for me.

I almost forgot the wah wah's … to this day they are cherished by me. I needed to show em

DSCN3624.jpg
The 3 wahs on top are called " Sticker " models but early on I learned the insides of em and they have the same guts as the script McCoys! The colorsound is an animal, nothing seems to sound like it, not even the reissue! That version of the Barber Direct Drive SS has 4 little pots inside it so I can tune that pedal till my hearts content, so, it's held in high regard and makes the list.
