In other words Budget LP's and Unique ones the real world can afford.

What does anyone know about Les Paul Tributes circa 2012?
I am familiar with Studios and Double Cuts, but not so much which model Les Pauls are fadeds, tributes, LPJ's etc
Definitely steer me away from Robo tune ones and Weird Scroll LP headstock logos.

So the Fadeds had weight relief chambering huh. These are the things I need to know. I want details such as thin or thick necks, relief or not, wide or narrow nut, and like Robert encountered, shoddy electronics like hums and squeals etc.

My old studio had to be around a 2000 model, not sure the specs as I flipped it in favor of something else.

another "Cheap" Lester (several of us got them when MF was BLOWING them out for (as I recall 500 or 550.00?? ) w/ gold HSC

The blues hawk next to it is ODD and Lester ISH-- as well.
 
Sonex 180.... RESIN WOOD
can be scored CHEAP for a "Vintage" Gibson -- (yes it has a bolt neck -- get over it so does 90% of the rest of the worlds guitars)
baseball bat thick neck
Resin wood is HEAVY
has a huge "ugly"plastic pickguard
and critically despised "Velvet Brick" pickups ah la Bill Lawrence ........buyt if you get the chance to play one --- DO IT -- you will be suprised

I did have a 2010 50's tribute that I really regret letting go (to a buddy) for the same price I paid for itWP_20180517_002.jpg
Aside from the P90's, I thinks it's basically the same spec as the 2012 tributes, so chambered body. It was a great player & also sounded great. No circuit board, orange drop tone caps. Cheers

IMO I really like the chambered bodies. My 2001 and 2013 are both 9 hole weight relieved, but blueberry is the modern Swiss cheese style. It sounds every bit as good as the others if not better. I can't really tell a difference in weight between any of them. I know it isn't very much. I know you are looking at different models. I'm just saying don't let any kind of weight relief/chambering dissuade you from any particular guitar.

Agreed. My modern Axcess Custom is thinner body and chambered, I thjnk, my other LPs are chambered. They all sound and play great. Personally, I don't believe a Paul has to be really heavy to sound heavy.
The 1976 Custom obviously is not weight relieved amd it sounda bit more high endy than my others. Non potted pickups, I am going to change 1 out for a 490 or such. Too many feedback issues with the non potted.
 
In the guy's description, he lists it as with Baked Maple FB and 490 498 pickups instead of what I saw for 60's Tributes saying Burstbucker 1 and 2 covered pups. Also no Min E tune but regular Klusons

It had a 50's round back neck, fairly narrow nut. It was put together OK but needed a bit of fine tuning, it did not really do well with high output pickups and ended up sounding its best with a set of TV Jones Classics.

I posted more pics of this one, I think I got a side view of neck and a front of headstock up there.

Here I am, I just bought a Washburn HB 30 Awesome guitar off SmittyP, then found a sweet Banjo for $50 having almost spent $450 for a nicer one.
Then, I happen upon a nice Korean made Epiphone Flying V from 1997 or 98. AND of course, to torment me, I see this slick Tribute and the price even dropped $150 off his original price.

The only trouble with that idea, 67, is I already once owned my dream LP.. but I sold it in 1991. To tell you the truth, NO other guitar can ever replace your FIRST Guitar ever. It was my 1979 LP Std in BLACK.
Until I find the guy I sold it to, and see where he likely sold it, and by a strike of lightning bolt of luck, to find the current owner and convince him to sell, Well, you get the picture.

Oh and I kind of have my runner up favorites already, ALL 4 of my SG's, MY Epi LP with T Tops, My Pine Bodied Tele, Both Am Std Strats, ES 135, Smitty's Washburn 335 copy ( Awesome guitar) and when Saturday afternoon gets here, my first V guitar will be mine.

I sure can never say I do not have enough or good enough guitars to play endless music till the day I die. Life is Good.
