The ones I have loved and lost

Like Truss Rod said, Not identical, but like this one. Mine was rougher looking plus had a black pickguard and uncovered T Tops instead of Shaws.

The one I really miss was my cream colored 75 Les Paul Custom that I got at Jim Labbs music in Medford Wi. in 76.
I traded in an early 70's white guard Tele on it.
It was a Randy Rhoads model before anyone ever heard of him.

Sold / traded off in 78 when I was in tech school & needed weed money.
One of many poor choices that I have made in life, yet survived to tell about it.

I don't regret selling It, but I do miss it. My 1973 Rick
I bough it in 1990 for $100, sold it around 2010 for $1500

Selling the Rick got me cash to buy this Ibanez S5470.. That's the guitar that I very much regret... I returned it to Sweetwater...I was unsure about how skinny the S model is. Now that I'm familiar, I want another. Played soooo good.

This is the actual one I picked out....and returned.

With the cash from the return, I got the js2400. Awesome!

There are two that I kick myself over, both Les Pauls. Sadly, no pics of either.

The first looked very similar to the blonde Custom that Hackmaster posted a few replies up, except that mine was a '77 and had reflector knobs. I got it brand-new in '77; It was my first good guitar, my first Gibson and the guitar that I learned how to play on. I sincerely regret ever letting it go and I think about it often. At one point I bought another blonde '77 Custom but that one didn't feel the same (although it sounded as good) and now I have a '79 that feels close and sounds as good or better, so that eases the sting a bit but I would still buy my original back in a second if I could. Still remember the serial number even.

The other was a 1996 Les Paul Standard Plaintop in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. It remains as one of the best guitars I have ever played and I foolishly traded it for another Standard with a lurid, flamey top just because I thought I wanted that look, when in the end I found out that I not only prefer plaintops but I ended up with an inferior guitar. Sadly I couldn't reverse the trade and was left with the dog, so I sold it and got something else. When Sweetwater did a limited run of non-weight-relieved plaintop Traditionals in 2016, and even mentioned in their ads that their inspiration was the mid-'90's Standards I jumped on it quick. My Trad is very very close to that Standard, actually better in some ways, not quite in others, but its a definite keeper and one of my favorites.

lol---- well there ya go--- sadly I was still a Ferengi in training then ---
