The new Gibson CEO - watch this

the guy has an uphill battle for sure--- time will tell how he does---
frankly there is enough OLD used Gibson stuff out there that is REALLY good---
like this
gibbo will do.jpg

why bother with NEW??

Put me down for expecting positive results from Gibson with JC at the helm. And I agree with the GuitarGeek: A revitalized and strong Gibson is good for the whole guitar industry. Especially if it contributes to guitar oriented music becoming more mainstream again... :fingersx:

So far, so good, I say. At least the 2019 Gibsons are smoking!

I like the fact that they won’t be referring to the guitars so much by year, anymore. I like the fact that they are going to focus more on the model, itself. Hopefully, it will take some of the chaos out of the various model lines and result in more consistency from year to year. We won’t be anticipating (or dreading!) each new model year like before.

Well he might but I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll have to wait & see what happens.

;>)/

Well, we’re already seeing things happening. Of course, anything can change and go sour, but if he’s already had the awareness and involvement to implement some simple, yet meaningful changes, like reducing extraneous steps in manufacturing and adopting consistent lighting throughout the facility, it provides some real assurance that he’s serious about improving the product.

I’m very optimistic about what I’m learning.

I’m sort of toying with the idea of selling of my Les Paul Studio to start putting together the funds for the new ES-235, in black, of course!

Really? You don't even think he deserves a chance to turn it around?

It looks like he has already turned it around.

What he repeatedly says makes perfect sense - he has put a very good vision in place. &, it's not as if Gibson isn't an established company, a great brand.

Some fantastic guitars at NAMM2019 - exactly what every one has been wanting for years.

It resembles one of mine, but then again it doesn't. LOL Brain farted until reading another thread of Smitty's about Gibson Gas and the 235. LOL Mine is an ES 135 and I just now realized this new Gib is a 235.

As you can see, mine has speed knobs and the one pictured has chromed Top Hat knobs. Also, the orientation is reversed and similar to the SG layout while the Sweetwater one looks closer to the Les Paul type layout, Also mine has a trapeze tailpiece. Is the Sweetwater one a F Hole Les Paul or some other model I am unaware of?

Also, I saw that the new 2019 235 has a plain back and plain neck where both of mine are burst coloring.
