Hah, I can relate ! I have one just in case the power goes out and I need a landline (everyone else will be freaking out on their cells). The wireless ones would would be dead.
 
TBTH I dont even HAVE a house phone........I have 3 cell phones......well 4 if you count the wifes......but no "land line"

But I still make coffee in one of these........

and prefer CRANK windows in my truck to the POWER windows in the new KIA...........

On the carpet underneath that gear is an APC UPS. It keeps all my internet infrastructure powered up in a power loss. I use a MagicJack VOIP.

not mine stock google photo I have the same one---its not as clean (I believe cleaning a coffee pot ruins the flavor) ---my wife disagrees--- but she drinks TEA---so what does she know .....................
