The Muse I Adorn

Damn dude :pound-hand::pound-hand: thats proper vintage gear :)
We are a musical family. I played trombone in school. Both boys also played trombone. Oldest granddaughter is playing her dads horn. Oldest grandson bassoon. Eldest tried to learn guitar and lost interest. Youngest taught himself bass and guitar and is many times better than I will ever be. Long story to say….. it’s already been established than when it’s my turn, the Ovation goes to him and his family. So not only vintage, but a family heirloom at this point as well.

Thats a nice thing to pass over the the flame to the next generation.
I hope my boy will want to to do something with my gear I tried to collect over the years.... At the moment he is too young he is only 9 and he has very little interest.

He did some guitar lessons but gave up, he said he wanted to play like me and he could not :)

I said, boy that kind of playing took me forever.....Many hours if practice and wanting to get better.... you play like 5 min and you want to be like me? It dose not work like that....He didnt like my answer lol
Now, he interested in drums.... lets he how long it will last till he finds out od time signatures :pound-hand:

I get that. Hang in there. My bassoon playing grandson will be 13 this summer. He also wants to learn guitar. So his dad tells him he’ll help him learn. Told him how he learned…. Put on a record or CD or in 2021 pull a song up on the IPad. Work on small sections at a time until you learn the song. That’s how my kid learned both bass and guitar. Obviously dad is going to have to teach the kid chords and such….. so what does my grandson do? Pulls up a Zeppelin tune since it’s the one he wants to learn to play.

My youngest sister’s boy, born in 93, starting playing when he was around 8 or 9. Told my sister if he sticks to it, I’ll get him a nice present for his high school graduation. Well, he kept at it and got quite good. So, for his graduation in 2011 I sent him (he did not know any of this) a 1997 American Standard Strat that I had hot rodded with 3 SD pups, 3 push pull pots and a pick guard that had a built in tuner. Needless to say, he was surprised. He still plays and is quite good.
